Fandom Favourites: Peripera x Powerpuff Girls

It's no secret that I've been buying more Korean beauty and skin care products over the last year. I've had nothing but success with most of the products and I've found new makeup favourites as well. I hadn't actually heard of Peripera but when I saw that they were releasing a Powerpuff Girls line via the Internet, I knew I had to look into it!

Source

I've read numerous reviews on blogs and even watched a handful of YouTube videos showing the swatches of the makeup and how easy the lip products go on. This has only made me want these products more. I'm hoping that Yes Style will eventually carry the line.

Source

I'm a complete sucker for eye shadows. I have at least 20.... but in my defense I wear different colours all the time. I so want the Bubbles palette after seeing the swatches.

Source

I'm not much of a lipstick person but from what I've read in the reviews, Peripera seem to be known for their vibrant lip products. I may try out an Ink Stick but I have my heart set on the lip tint which I think is perfectly represented with Buttercup on the packaging (she's not much of a lipstick girl either).

What pop culture line will these beauty companies come out with next?! First Pokemon, now Powerpuff Girls. I think a Sailor Moon line would be pretty perfect.

5 Fandom Friday: Fictional Characters that Define Me

If you're on Twitter or Instagram you've probably seen a popular hashtag floating around to define yourself in three fictional characters. I, of course, jumped on this and gave myself a couple of days to mull over what characters I'm most like. And then after seeing Jordandene turn her character picks into a #5FandomFriday post, I thought, what a fun idea!

My initial 3 picks:

1. Mikey from Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
In this series Mikey loves all cute things, especially cats, gets super excited for food, pronounces words wrong, and has a tendency to trip or crash into something when he's supposed to be quiet like a ninja. Sounds like me, right?

2. Hermione Granger from Harry Potter
Oh how do I relate with Hermione's need to study, be right, and not get into trouble. That was me growing up, and maybe me now too.

3. Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation
Leslie's positive attitude, strong work ethics, loyalty to friends, and love of waffles are pretty much bang on for me.

4. Jess Day from New Girl
Whether Jess is wearing one of her cute dresses, knitting on the couch, baking desserts (and not trusting those who don't like desserts), or being super socially awkward, I feel like I'm seeing me in her character.

5. Bubbles from Powerpuff Girls
I identify with Bubbles when it comes to her positivity, love of all things cute, and her sensitive personality.

What fictional characters would you pick?

Fandom Favourites

Hello! I wanted to share some of my fandom favourites with you today.

1. I'm really enjoying the new Powerpuff Girls TV show and I especially want the new figures that have been released for the show. There's an entire new line of toys for PPG, but the little plastic figures are a necessity for my collection.

2. Recently at EB Games I spotted the SDCC Exclusive X-Men Dorbz. So I've done my best not to buy any of the Dorbz figures because I can only fit so many toys on my shelves. But the X-Men ones are too cute! Maybe it's because Wolverine is actually smiling...

3. TeeTurtle released a few candy girl t-shirt designs and I love every single one. However, the Candy Corn Countess has won over my heart.

4. The new Gilmore Girls episodes are so close to airing (not really that close, but close enough that I can count down now). I pretty much squee every time I see anything Gilmore Girls-related. And I desperately need some sort of Luke's artwork for my kitchen. This one is perfect.

The Powerpuff Girls

The Powerpuff Girls reboot premieres today! I'm very excited to watch the new show and see more of the Powerpuff Girls' adventures.

In honour of the premiere, Cartoon Network released a site to Powerpuff yourself! You can go here to make yourself.

Here's me after I Puff'd myself. Cute, right?

I'm no stranger to Powerpuff Girls cosplay, which I've done accidentally (it happens when you have a pink dress and red hair) and on purpose. I put together some casual Everyday Cosplay looks for the girls in celebration of the reboot premiere.

I went with a casual, cotton dress and some military style boots for Buttercup since she's the tomboy of the group. Blossom, being the leader, has a more grown up look to her dress and sensible flats to kick butt in. Of course Bubbles has to be over the top cute; a frilly lace dress and bow flats complete her look. And how amazing are those purses? I so want one!

Do you plan on watching the new show?

Fandom Favourites

Hello! This past weekend was Toronto ComiCon and what do comic conventions usually do? Make me want to buy all the things! I was pretty good in controlling myself with purchases but I have a giant wish list for future conventions and for my birthday this Summer.

1. There were so many girls (of all ages) dressed as Rey at the convention and it has me wanting to try her hairstyle and wear this dress from We Love Fine.

2. The Powerpuff Girls are back April 4th! I love the original series and I know this new series will feel different, especially with new voice actors. But I can't wait to see the girls in action again.

3. I recently had a favourite episodes of Gilmore Girls marathon with a friend and all it did was re-ignite my Gilmore Girls love. I desperately need this tank from Look Human even though it's probably not true.

4. So when browsing Kate Spade's website recently I noticed their Minnie Mouse collection. Can we all agree this Minnie Mouse bow clasp is too precious?!

5. Everywhere I look right now I find these Funko Disney Mystery Minis Blind Boxes. They are SO cute. So far I've held off buying any, but every time I see them my self control weakens.

Fandom Favourites: Toy Fair Edition

Last weekend was Toy Fair in New York City. Every year I scroll through the photos with the toy fair hashtags. It's a lot of fun to see what's going to be coming out over the next year. This year was no different and there were a few toys and product lines introduced that will definitely be on my wish list this year.

1. Funko released their newest toy line: Rock Candy. One of the first lines to come out will be the DC comics ladies and I'm absolutely dying over the 'Modern Batgirl' vinyl figure.

2. I came across an image of new Pusheen products and spotted blind boxes! Gund has teamed up with Pusheen to create Pusheen Surprise Plush blind boxes. They're all so cute! And I can see myself buying multiples of these blind boxes over the span of a comic convention weekend.

3. With the Powerpuff Girls reboot coming this Spring, there were some pictures posted of the new figures and playsets that will be showing up in stores. It was also just announced that Funko will be one of the official Toy partners for Powerpuff Girls so we should expect to see Pop! Vinyls, Mystery Mini boxes, and Dorbz figures. I'm going to need an entire shelf just for PPG toys!

4. I've become a big fan of the DC Comics Bombshells line. The comics are super entertaining and incredibly beautiful to look at. Cryptozoic Entertainment showed their new DC Bombshells figures at Toy Fair and they're gorgeous!

5. One of the most exciting things I spotted at Toy Fair was the new Sailor Moon Pop! figures from Funko. Seriously?! I want them all! Look at how adorable Luna is!

If this year's Toy Fair has shown me anything, it's that I have a serious addiction to cute and pretty things. I'm a little afraid to see what I buy at all the comic conventions I'm attending this year.

90s Favourites

This month's theme over at IGGPPC, is 'We Love The 90s". So of course it's brought up so many conversations amongst the staff and in the community about our favourite things from the 90s - television shows, music, fashion, movies. It's brought back so many memories and I'm finding myself wanting to surround myself with some of the nostalgia. Like my urge to start watching Friends on Netflix and wanting to pull out my No Doubt and Letters to Cleo albums.

I was 6-16 years old during the 90s. A lot of my childhood, middle school, and the beginning of high school happened during this time. It was an impressionable period in my life.

These are some of my favourite things from this time period.

Cartoons:

X-Men
Saturday morning was the time for cartoons. Fox played all the best shows but what stands out the most during this line up was the animated X-Men cartoon. It played at 11 a.m. and my brothers and myself were always ready to watch it.

Rugrats & Doug
The other time we watched cartoons in our house was right after school. These were the two shows that I watched everyday when I got home. To this day I have a soft spot for both of these shows and probably kept watching them a lot longer than I should have for my age.

The Powerpuff Girls
This show came out at the end of middle school for me, so I wasn't watching as many cartoons anymore. But this show won me over. And my best friend. We became Powerpuff Girls fans, bought their merchandise, and covered our lockers in stickers of the girls.

TV Shows:

Beverly Hills 90210
I was way too young to watch this show. But I watched it anyways. It was my introduction to teenager drama and how addictive this type of show could be. I wanted to be Kelly. I wanted to date Brandon. It was quite the show to watch during puberty. I actually learned a lot from it.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
This was yet another show I watched with my brothers. I remember watching it first thing in the morning before school. And then spending recess discussing the episode or acting it out.

TGIF - Boy Meets World, Family Matters, Step by Step, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch
I spent SO many Friday nights in front of the TV watching the TGIF line up. Usually with snacks, sometimes with my cousin, and sometimes at my grandparents' apartment or trailer. It was one of my favourite things.

Music:

Backstreet Boys
Oh, BSB. They were THE boy band that I listened to during middle school. I was obsessed. They were also the first concert I ever went to.

Spice Girls
Who didn't like Spice Girls that grew up in the 90s?! I used to do the dances from their music videos with my friends. I'd belt out all their songs with my cousin. I went to the movie theatre to see Spice World. They were such a fun group to listen to during this time.

No Doubt
Tragic Kingdom was the album that changed music for me. I was obsessed with Gwen and became obsessed with Much Music (Canada's version of MTV) during this time. From there I was introduced to Bush, Smashing Pumpkins, I Mother Earth, Our Lady Peace, Bif Naked... my love for pop music was behind me and I entered high school listening to alternative music.

Fashion:

During middle school I lived in - denim overalls, scrunchies, Adidas pants (with the classic stripes down the side), and Nike tear-away pants. Once I hit high school, and now wanted to dress like the ladies in Clueless or a Spice Girl (yikes!), I found myself wearing kilts and knee high socks, Silver jeans, bell bottom jeans, jean jackets (there was quite the denim trend happening), and choker necklaces.

Cosplay: Blossom

I've never been one to cosplay. I mean, coming up with a Halloween costume stresses me out. Though, I'm inspired and in awe of people who do cosplay. So when I was introduced to the 'everyday cosplay' or casual cosplay if you will, I was intrigued. This was something I could pull off. It was a starting point and not a ton of work. And I'm not good with intimidating projects.

Back when we went to New York City, someone commented that it looked like I was doing an everyday cosplay of Blossom from Powerpuff Girls because of my pink dress and thick black belt. So when I got invited to a casual cosplay night at the local board game cafe, I jumped on the Blossom idea. I pulled out the pink dress and black belt again. But I did use my glue gun and some red fabric to make a large bow to clip in my hair. This was my final result:

I'm happy with how things turned out and the other people at the meet up knew who I was so that made me happy. And I have to say, this small step towards cosplay has me motivated to maybe try out more. Especially some more casual cosplays.

What I'm Loving Now

This Spring and Summer I have found myself getting giddy like I did when I was 13 years old for nail polish. In early Spring, I actually stopped at the nail polish display to look for a new colour for my toes since the weather was getting nicer and what did I see? So many different glitter and confetti nail polishes! That was my weakness when I was a young teenager!

I picked up two Revlon polishes in the Spring:

Girly

Whimsical

I'm completely in love with both of them! I've been wearing them constantly and by themselves. I like the semi-sheer look and it's not so noticeable when it starts to chip off.

I actually paired Girly with the Pinkie Pie polish I got for my birthday. My toes look like pink frosting!

Pinkie Pie toes! #MLP #mylittlepony

While looking at nail polishes, I've been drooling over the Nicole by OPI line... they have so many glitter and confetti polishes! Like ones with hearts and stars. Seriously, my inner 13 year old keeps getting excited when I look at the polishes. I ended up buying one of the polishes from the Selena Gomez line for Nicole by OPI. I picked up Confetti Fun and just put two coats on with no other colour underneath and it looks so awesome! This isn't my photo but this is exactly what my nails look like:

Source

Anyways, that's enough nail polish talk. As usual, I'm normally behind on new television shows. But I actually jumped on this show sooner than normal. I have 3 episodes left of Orange is the New Black and I'm seriously addicted! I kept hearing about the show on twitter and I had no idea who was in the show, but I love the cast! And I love Laura Prepon all over again (first time was as Donna in That 70s Show).

Source

I'm also watching and about half way through Season 7 of Supernatural. Orange is the New Black slowed me down a bit, but the Winchester Boys have been doing an excellent job entertaining me in this season though.

Do you check out the shirt a day sites? I could have a serious spending problem if I didn't have self control. They always have the cutest geeky mash-up shirts. Well, Tuesday night as I was going to bed I received an email from Ript Apparel for their shirt that was going on sale the next day... I almost died from the cuteness... a Powerpuff Girls and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mash-up?!?! Holy crap. I definitely bought this shirt and I'm beyond excited to get it in the mail!

What have you been loving lately?

Mail Days!

Where did this week go??

Tonight I'll be going to the final James North Art Crawl of the season. I have a booth again and I'm excited to bring some of my new products! It'll be a chilly night but I'm looking forward to seeing some friends and talking to some new people.

I've had some pretty great mail days over the past week. I purchased a book for a close friend a little while ago for a gift. It was the cutest book with marshmallow recipes, Marshmallow Madness!... it shows you how to make marshmallows and then there are recipes using marshmallows. We have a mutual love for marshmallows so I thought it was perfect. Then I came across a giveaway through the Charmios facebook page for the same book. So I of course entered... and then won!

I won this in a giveaway! Thanks Charmios!
The cover of the book is puffy and the pictures inside are drool-worthy!

Then yesturday, I came home to my new Ript Apparel t-shirt! I cannot wait to wear it!I was so happy to get this in the mail today!! #riptapparel #geek #powerpuffgirls

I love getting packages in the mail! I have a swap set-up with Katie of Hook, Line & Sink Her, which I'm so excited for! That'll be a great mail day!

Have a great weekend!

2 Broke Powerpuff Girls

So I'm a big fan of Powerpuff Girls and have been contemplating on buying the 10th anniversary collection. I'm also a fan of the show, 2 Broke Girls. I adore Kat Dennings in it.

Mad did the cutest mash-up of these shows:

Now I really want to buy the Powerpuff Girls boxset...

Crafting Madness

I have been busy sewing lately since there are 3 big comic conventions this year that I'm applying to. There's a possibility of a fourth one as well, but I haven't made my mind up about it yet. I continue to be lucky finding thrifted fabric to use for my projects which makes me a very happy girl. Recently we even found something that I've never seen before.

Thrifted Finds
Nintendo
I have never ever seen this before! I was so excited to find it!
Ghostbusters Tote
Powerpuff Girls Totes
Star Wars Tote
I've been using up a lot of scraps I had lying around since my fabric stash is growing constantly. The totes I've been making have been all different sizes but I think that adds charm to them. The smaller ones are adorable in my opinion!
Hobo Bag
I'm also extremely happy that I found a hook for the wall that doesn't actually put a hole in the wall. I'm not the greatest photographer but I think the hook and plain wall will make some of my etsy photos much better.
Hobo Bag
These two hobo bags will be up in my etsy shop this week!
Heart Mobile
I busied myself one evening making a heart mobile for our front door.

Well, I have zipper pouches to work on... night!

Powerpuff Girls and Cupcakes

What a quick week! It's exciting that the weekend is so close. I have so much sewing and crafting planned for my 2 days off.

I actually got a few thrifted sheets this week because I'm lucky enough to have a husband who will hit up thrift stores while I'm at work in search of sheets for me and electronics for him. He picked me up a Powerpuff Girls sheet - it's in perfect condition and the colours are so bright! I love it. I cannot wait to cut it up and make some tote bags and pillows. Back when I was blonde I always loved Bubbles and her cute personality but now being a ginger I have more of an affection for Blossom... there's maybe a slight resemblance? Right??... hehe

Me and Blossom

Me and Blossom

I recently made the most yummy cupcakes. They're definitely one of the best I've made, right up there with the chocolate mint ones I made last winter.

Cherry Almond Cupcake

I found the recipe in the Better Homes and Gardens Cupcake bookazine that came out this year. The secret is just to add maraschino cherry juice/syrup to the cupcake batter and in the frosting. Inside each cupcake there's also a maraschino cherry baked in.... Yum!

Cherry Almond Cupcake

I had to give away half of these cupcakes so I didn't consume them all myself!

Tonight I'm going to the movies to see Crazy Stupid Love. I'm pretty excited to see this movie. I hope I'm not disappointed!

Have a good day!
