5 Fandom Friday: Favourite Geeky Stores

This week's 5 Fandom Friday is a fun one because I'm constantly looking for geek clothes, accessories, and gadgets!

Let's get to it...

1. TeeFury

I'm sure you've heard of at least one of the many websites that sells geeky t-shirt designs for a 24-hour period and then they disappear (until another site sells the same design at a future date). I've been addicted to these sites for years now and have bought some super awesome geeky mash-up shirts. TeeFury tends to be the site I buy from the most. I'm always squeeing at their designs.

2. Hallmark

A little weird, right? Not anymore! In the last couple of years they've started carrying geeky things - Itty Bittys and housewares (mugs, picture frames, etc.). And they're all SO cute! Their Star Wars merchandise and Itty Bitty line keep me coming back.

3. Teeturtle

Teeturtle is a Canadian company that makes cute geeky designs to print on t-shirts, hoodies, and socks. Their designs are super adorable and I kind of want everything on their site.

4. Look Human

I was introduced to Look Human a couple of years ago through social media. One of my twitter friends would post the cutest Sailor Moon-inspired tanks and I had to know where she got them. Look Human! They have an amazing collection for cat lovers and coffee addicts so the company has won me over. But their fandom designs are what grabbed my attention initially. I also finally got one of their Harry Potter-inspired 'Always' tanks for Christmas this year!

5. EB Games aka GameStop

My husband has a video game addiction and I also dabble in video games myself. This has me visiting an EB Games location almost weekly. I'm pretty sure our local store employees could recognize us anywhere. Slowly they've been bringing more items into the store besides video games.... Pop! Vinyl figures, board games, Nintendo Christmas ornaments, t-shirts, blind boxes. So now the store has become even more appealing to me.

What are you favourite geeky stores? I'm always looking for new places to check out!

Fandom Favourites: Toy Fair Edition

Last weekend was Toy Fair in New York City. Every year I scroll through the photos with the toy fair hashtags. It's a lot of fun to see what's going to be coming out over the next year. This year was no different and there were a few toys and product lines introduced that will definitely be on my wish list this year.

1. Funko released their newest toy line: Rock Candy. One of the first lines to come out will be the DC comics ladies and I'm absolutely dying over the 'Modern Batgirl' vinyl figure.

2. I came across an image of new Pusheen products and spotted blind boxes! Gund has teamed up with Pusheen to create Pusheen Surprise Plush blind boxes. They're all so cute! And I can see myself buying multiples of these blind boxes over the span of a comic convention weekend.

3. With the Powerpuff Girls reboot coming this Spring, there were some pictures posted of the new figures and playsets that will be showing up in stores. It was also just announced that Funko will be one of the official Toy partners for Powerpuff Girls so we should expect to see Pop! Vinyls, Mystery Mini boxes, and Dorbz figures. I'm going to need an entire shelf just for PPG toys!

4. I've become a big fan of the DC Comics Bombshells line. The comics are super entertaining and incredibly beautiful to look at. Cryptozoic Entertainment showed their new DC Bombshells figures at Toy Fair and they're gorgeous!

5. One of the most exciting things I spotted at Toy Fair was the new Sailor Moon Pop! figures from Funko. Seriously?! I want them all! Look at how adorable Luna is!

If this year's Toy Fair has shown me anything, it's that I have a serious addiction to cute and pretty things. I'm a little afraid to see what I buy at all the comic conventions I'm attending this year.

My Life In Photos

January is almost over and I'm really not sure where the month went. It's been a really snowy month. Like, tons of snow. Winter caught up and we've been shoveling every couple of days. It's been a work out. The weather has kept us inside though. Snuggling, reading, watching TV and movies... it's been nice.

Seymore is especially fond of the new bed we bought him on boxing day. It's a small dog bed which fits him perfectly.

Koopa looking cute and actually letting me take a non-blurry photo of him. Tank is off hiding like usual.

I read through the first Lumberjanes trade this month, along with a few other books. I have the second Lumberjanes volume in my to-read pile still too.

I found Star Wars: The Force Awakens Pop! Vinyls really cheap and just had to pick them all up!

I've been adding to my sprinkle collection as I come up with more recipes I want to try.

I couldn't pass up these Valentines and stickers when I was out shopping last week.

I also bought a few other things this month: my first Tsum Tsum pack, a ceramic dish, and two DS games.

January has been a good start to 2016. It's been snowy and I haven't left the house much, but it's been nice and relaxing.

How's January been for you?

Christmas Around The House

Tomorrow is the first day of December which means no one can look at me funny when I talk about Christmas movies, sing along to Christmas songs, or post pictures of my Christmas decorations! Honestly, our decorations have been up for about three weeks now and our tree was put up two weeks ago. Canadian Thanksgiving is in October, so I see no reason to hold off on decorating for my favourite holiday once Halloween is over.

We've been picking up more ornaments when we go out shopping. The Mario ornaments were a set of 4 that we just bought at EB Games. We've also been eyeing up some Marvel and Star Wars ones from Hallmark so I'm sure we'll be adding some more over the month of December. The bottom picture is of my Rudolph Pop! Vinyls I've collected so far. I really, really want Bumble but I haven't seen him in any stores unfortunately.

Are you decorated for Christmas or do you wait until it's closer to the holiday?

Fan Expo Canada Recap

Fan Expo Canada was this past weekend and it was a blast! It was super packed every day, I saw some amazing cosplays, and I sold a lot which is always nice.

My table in Artist Alley:

It was a sunny and hot weekend. A little too humid for my liking so it was ok being inside in air conditioning.

There were a lot of fun displays and photo opportunities.

These are just a few of the cosplay shots I got. Check out my Facebook page for all the photos I took.

We watched the sunset each day as we drove back to Hamilton after the convention.

We didn't buy as much as usual but one of the best things we got over the weekend was a free Pac-Man hat from EB Games.

I also picked up some new Pop! Vinyl figures to add to my collection.

My favourite thing about the show was all the Harry Potter love there. With so many Harry Potter guests, there were a ton of people walking around in Hogwarts uniforms, people with Time Turners around their neck, and Harry Potter-inspired t-shirts were everywhere. It made me want to rush home to watch all the movies, which I might do over the next couple of weeks.

Also, the show's organization improved this year. It was easier getting back and forth from the North and South buildings and the floorplan was easy to follow. They seem to be making the most of the space but they're not crowding tables in everywhere. I enjoyed that.

It's bittersweet for Fan Expo to be over. I don't have a huge show to stress over, but comic convention season is over for me until 2016.

Remember to check out the rest of my photos from Fan Expo on my Facebook page

Weekend Adventures

We spent last weekend in Hamilton and it was a great time. We had barbecues, went swimming, paintballing, went shopping at Big B Comics and Cheapies, checked out flea markets, hit up Nations grocery store for lunch and goodies to bring home, and did lots of visiting with family and friends. It was a great way to start July.

Chocolate mint cupcakes and lime cupcakes Adam requested for his paintball and barbecue party. They were so good!

New figures I picked up over the weekend. I have almost all the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pop! Vinyl figures now.

It was a fantastic weekend, though I'm still dealing with purple and yellow bruises from paintball. I'm excited for our next weekend adventure which is camping at Algonquin park!

Weekend Adventures

We headed back to Hamilton this past weekend to celebrate my Mom's 50th birthday. Of course we squeezed in as much as we could during our time there. Our first stop was visiting Kool Stuff. We always find some great things there. We don't necessarily buy a lot, but I always enjoy going through all the vintage toys.

The creepiest Sailor Moon dolls I have ever seen...

I squeezed in TWO frozen yogurt dates over the weekend with two different friends. It was so worth it. I had different flavours both times but as usual popping bobas made it into my container during both visits.

The entire weekend was just gorgeous. It got so hot both Saturday and Sunday. All the plants were in full bloom at my parents'. Their chokecherry tree was just absolutely beautiful.

Before we headed home on Sunday we hit up Big B Comics. We spent way more money than we planned but oh well. We stocked up on comics big time. I was so tempted to pick up this Pop! Vinyl figure too. I figure I'll purchase him at Fan Expo Canada this summer.

And it's becoming tradition for us to hit up a Tim Horton's somewhere along the drive home for donuts. But these were so needed... my car ended up making rumbling noises near the end of our drive. So we both ended up stressed out. Thank goodness for donuts!

It was another fantastic weekend and we had lots of fun! But we're both exhausted now.
How was your weekend?
