Etsy Updates

Happy Friday!

So my Etsy shop has been updated with a ton of new pouches! I posted a few of my extra large pouches which would be amazing for a toiletry bag or to hold all your art supplies. I'm thinking I might use one for all my planner accessories. It would definitely hold all my washi, stickers, and pens.

Head to my Etsy shop to see all the pouches!

I hope you have a great weekend! And keep an eye on my shop. I'll be updating it with new hobo bags and totes next week.

Toronto Comicon Recap

What a great weekend! Toronto Comicon was this past weekend, which was my first convention of the year. It's always fun and this year I had Adam come with me so he was on the hunt for graphic novel deals for us and we can home with quite the pile.

My Table

The show started a little slow Friday and Saturday morning. I was feeling a little down until Saturday afternoon hit. I don't know if everyone spent extra time looking at everything before making purchases but I had a few hours Saturday afternoon where I couldn't sit down because it was non-stop customers at my table.

I'm SO excited for Power Rangers!

Artist Alley life isn't always the most glamorous when you're stuffed in like sardines.

By Sunday I was ready to nap under my table; I was running on little sleep, I had put in hours and hours of driving over the last 3 days, and the social interactions all weekend had me wanting to hide and rest. However, I left the show feeling inspired and motivated. I want to sew all the things, play all the games, read all the comics, and watch more anime.

My favourite purchase!! You can check out her Etsy shop here.

And the keychain is reversible! Yay for chubby Pokemon!

Needless to say, I haven't had much rest since I got home. I worked today and I'm back in tomorrow. Wednesday will be my day of rest. Or day of sleeping in, no makeup, and sweatpants. I can't wait!

Crafty Updates

Toronto Comicon is only days away and I'm freaking out a little. It's my first show of the year, I'm working like crazy this week which leaves little time to destress at home and there's still things to do!

Anyways, here are some of my finished bags from the last couple of weeks:

All the tote bags are extra large with longer straps than I'd normally use. So we'll see how they do at the show.

I also finished up a few last minute pouches this past weekend:

If you're planning on visiting Toronto Comicon, make sure you stop by my table to say hi! I'll be at table A255.

Have a good day!

Crafty Updates

My first comic convention of the year is less than a month away and I'm feeling the stress right now. I have a million ideas and plans but realistically I only have enough time for like a quarter of my ideas. These are the first of my finished projects:

I've started making my hobo bags with a bit of a deeper bag and longer straps. I've been listening to people who come by my table and that seems to be the two most common suggestions/complaints. So my first batch of hobo bags for this show are bigger and with longer straps.

I also finished a few extra large zipper pouches. They're the perfect size for all your markers or makeup. I'm actually going to make one for myself to hold my planner stickers since the bags are large enough for the sticker pages.

Next up on my to-do list are tote bags and more kitty kickers! I'll be posting more photo over on my Instagram feed.

Convention Schedule 2017

I'm not going to lie, I'm starting to freak out a bit about convention season starting. I feel like it snuck up on me. My first show is in about a month and I have sew (heh, see what I did there?) much to do!

This is my tentative convention schedule for 2017:

March 17-19 - Toronto ComiCon

This is a great comic convention to do because it's a bit smaller, but still in the heart of Toronto so talented artists and amazing people show up for the event. It's the perfect show to start the season with. It gets me pumped up for the rest of the convention season.

June 10 - Graphic-Con (still waiting on table confirmation)

This is a local comic convention that I've done the past two years. It's grown so much and the structure and organization of the event impresses me. It's also a lot of fun to do a show like this so close to home. I get to see people I know and meet others from the area.

August 31 - September 3 - Fan Expo Canada

This is THE comic convention of the year. It's busy and crazy and so full of awesome! I go crazy prepping for this convention and need a small break afterwards. It's such a great show to be apart of though. I look forward to it every year.

October 15 - Northern Game Expo

This is another local show that focuses on video games and comics. It's a fun show to attend and it could easily be one of Adam's favourite shows because there's video games every where!

So take this post as your warning.... get ready for a lot of craft photos that will be posted from now on! Both on here and my social media pages.

My Life In Photos

I'm having a hard time believing that January is just about over. This month has been all about new things and new beginnings; we've been organizing and decluttering, I've been buying new fabric and starting new sewing projects for cons, and I'm trying to organize my life with an in-depth planner.

New fabric!

More new fabric! How great is the Homer one?

The start of my addiction to planner stickers.

A winter walk at Bell Park.

That's a frozen Ramsey Lake in front of me.

The turtles are getting so big.

Logan being super adorable but a really bad assistant in the craft room. He believes all fabric and envelopes are for him to lie on.

I hope January was a great month for you! I'm excited to see what February has in store.

Staying Productive At Home + My Dream Office

When I was approached by Wayfair to share some tips about how to stay productive at home it got me thinking. How do I stay productive at home? I've been running my Etsy shop, selling at conventions, and working with other websites while also working at a steady job for years and years now. Ten years to be exact. I feel like staying productive at home has just become routine for me; it's my way of life.

Don't get me wrong, there are days when I feel like staying on the couch all day and watching television. Especially on chilly or rainy days, and when a cat has snuggled up with me. But even on those days I feel guilty not being productive at all. So those unproductive days tend to be pushed away by mid-afternoon and I get back to work, no matter how small the task.

Tips to Stay Productive

Here are some of my tips on how I push myself to be productive at home, especially on the hard days:

  • Plan ahead of time.
Usually at the beginning of the week I pull out my planner and start filling in my schedule for that week. Everything from my shifts at work, to when I'll buy groceries, to afternoons set aside for sewing. This way each morning I can look at my planner and see what I have scheduled for that day and can start working towards completing my to-do list.

  • Set small goals.
Once I know what I have in store for that day, I make goals mentally for that day. Something like, 'sew 10 pouches before taking a break' or 'after lunch write 2 blog posts before checking emails'. It seems easy enough, but if you follow through with multiple small goals you'll notice your to-do list will get checked off a lot quicker. Your list won't seem so daunting when broken into smaller segments.

  • Take time for yourself too.
I can easily get caught up at home working on a project and I'll actually forget to eat lunch or I'll stand up to use the bathroom and realize my legs are really sore or I'm light-headed. Make sure you take time for you. Do 5 minutes of stretches when you get up for something. Take regular water and coffee breaks in the kitchen just to break yourself away from your computer screen, desk, or sewing machine. A change of scenery, even for 15 minutes, can do wonders for your brain, eyes, and posture. I usually spend this time petting or playing with my cats which is a good stress reliever.

Dream Office

As for my current office/craft room, things are in shambles right now and not as put together as I'd like. I'm hoping to have a proper set up by the end of 2017! So for now, here's an idea of what I'd love for an office:

All these items can be found in the Wayfair's Office Furniture section.

How cute is that Potted Pen Stand? And I'm surprising myself more and more when I pick white over other colours, but it's become my favourite backdrop for pops of colour through accessories.

What tips do you have for staying productive at home?

Crafty Updates

My goal in November was to get my Etsy shop updated 100% and I'm almost there! We lose sunlight so early in the day now that it's hard to photograph products but I'm finding some tricks and places in the house that work.

Here's just a snippet of what I've added to my Etsy shop:

Since it's now December there's not much more time to place orders to have them arrive in time for Christmas. If you need a special order or faster shipping, send me an email!

Crafty Updates

It's November and that means the countdown to Christmas is on! Like so many others, I've started my Christmas shopping. I try hard to get things done in November since December is always a blur and I hate squeezing in shopping during then. I'd rather enjoy what free time I have doing festive things.

So to go with the Christmas shopping flow, I have plans to get my Etsy shop 100% updated over the next week. I started with a batch of pouches this week.

I'll be photographing more items today and will be updating almost daily over the next week so keep an eye on my Etsy shop. And if you see a fabric or style you love but want to change something on it, send me an email and we can set up a custom order.

Happy shopping!

Crafty Updates

This weekend I'll be a vendor at Northern Game Expo here in Sudbury. I'm excited for the show since last year was a lot of fun and there was a good turnout. And I'm definitely interested to see the other vendors and what gaming stations they have set up since the show is in a bigger venue this year.

With the show being a gaming expo I had to pull out all my Pokemon and Nintendo fabric for pouches and cat toys and I'm currently in the middle of finishing up a few more totes for the show too.

I will be selling at another gaming and comic expo next month in North Bay, Gateway FanEx. So I'm guessing my spare time will continue to look like this until then:

Honestly, I'm just excited to be apart of these local shows. They inspire me to keep creating.

Have a great weekend!

Crafty Updates: Fan Expo

Fan Expo Canada starts tomorrow! Eeee! This is the largest convention that I sell at every year. It's also the most fun. The convention takes over the entire Metro Toronto Convention Centre for 4 days and it's incredibly busy and chaotic, but also amazing.

My table is in Artist Alley at A351. If you come to the show over the weekend, feel free to come say hi!

August has become so incredibly busy for me while I finish up prep work for this show. I've been sewing like crazy, with both new fabrics and scraps of old fabrics that I had buried in my fabric bins. I'm pretty excited and happy with the stock I have to bring to this year's show.

I have more stock this year than I've ever had for Fan Expo. I wanted to make sure I covered all the big fandom bases this year (especially Pokemon and Harry Potter).

I'll be back next week after my 4-days of Fan Expo fun!

Crafty Updates: Graphic-Con Prep

This Saturday is Graphic-con here in Sudbury. I'll be in Artist Alley selling my bags, pillowcases, and cat toys. I'm very excited to see how the show is set up this year since it's in a new venue.

As usual I've been super busy sewing like crazy. I have a ton of product to bring with me this weekend.

If you're in the area, I definitely recommend checking out the convention this weekend. It should be a fun event!

Crafty Updates

Hello! Since my last Etsy update I've been busy taking more pictures and posting new products up on Etsy. Pouches and totes are filled up in my shop!

I've been busy getting ready for my next convention, Graphic-Con, which is here in Sudbury. In preparation I picked up some new fabric.

Pretty awesome, right? In the meantime, keep an eye on my Etsy shop since I'll be adding more items throughout the month.
