My Life In Photos

Tomorrow is December. Crazy, right? Looking back at November I did a lot of sewing, hung out with cats, and made my house Christmas-cozy.

This is delicious! I have plans to make some mixed drinks with it during December.

I received a great parcel from a pen pal filled with amazing treats!

I've spent a good chunk of time in my craft room - prepping for Gateway FanEx and to update Etsy.

Logan has been my fluffy craft assistant.

We stood in line at 7 a.m. to pick up one of these. It's beyond adorable. I didn't realize how small it was. I so badly want to do a photo shoot with the cats with it. Adam seems to think this is a bad idea.

It's 'Seymore needs to sleep at our feet' weather!

I hope November was great for you! Bring on December!

Fandom Favourites

Hello! I wanted to share some of my fandom favourites with you today.

1. I'm really enjoying the new Powerpuff Girls TV show and I especially want the new figures that have been released for the show. There's an entire new line of toys for PPG, but the little plastic figures are a necessity for my collection.

2. Recently at EB Games I spotted the SDCC Exclusive X-Men Dorbz. So I've done my best not to buy any of the Dorbz figures because I can only fit so many toys on my shelves. But the X-Men ones are too cute! Maybe it's because Wolverine is actually smiling...

3. TeeTurtle released a few candy girl t-shirt designs and I love every single one. However, the Candy Corn Countess has won over my heart.

4. The new Gilmore Girls episodes are so close to airing (not really that close, but close enough that I can count down now). I pretty much squee every time I see anything Gilmore Girls-related. And I desperately need some sort of Luke's artwork for my kitchen. This one is perfect.

What fandom things are you loving right now?

My Life In Photos

Happy first day of Fall! Looking back at photos from September I'm seeing a trend... Fall! Even though we've had a few warmer days (kind of hot actually), I'm all about this season.

Fall Mums are everywhere! I still need to buy some for the front of our house.

Adam did buy me a Moon Cactus recently and picked this one out because of the colour. I'm so in love with it! And now I kind of want more...

There's a love/hate relationship with these Halloween candies. I'm a fan of them, though, you can only eat a few at a time.

The Maple tree in our yard is shedding red leaves. They're so pretty but I'm already dreading raking leaves.

Pumpkin cookies from friends are extra yummy.

Seymore loving the box we brought home from Costco.

Catching Logan mid-yawn makes him look like a little monster.

We headed to Bell Park on an exceptionally warm day last week. It was lovely.

I hope September's been good to you so far! We still have a few more Fall activities planned for the next couple of weeks which I'm excited for.

Fall Wish List

Tomorrow is September and that means Fall is around the corner! Eeee!

I'm so excited for Fall fashion and these are just a few things that top my Fall wish list. How amazing are those knee high socks?! And if I had a Totoro dress it would easily be my favourite item in my wardrobe. And a candy corn kitty?! Everything here makes me happy and excited for the next season.

Are you looking forward to Fall?

Baking Inspiration

As usual, the Autumn season brings out all things pumpkin... Pumpkin Spice Lattes, pumpkin pie, pumpkin donuts... I always pick up a couple cans of pumpkin puree for baking during this time. And there's quite a few recipes that have caught my eye that I might try. As well as some recipes calling for candy corn! Yum!

Candy Corn M&M Cookies

So a little over a month ago I found out that there were Pumpkin Spice M&Ms at Target in the U.S. After screaming about this on twitter, I also found out that there were Candy Corn M&Ms too! Why does Canada not get these fun seasonal treats?!?!

A lovely lady offered to send me a bag of both Pumpkin Spice and Candy Corn M&Ms! I was so excited to get them in the mail. I knew I had to try some M&Ms on their own but I also wanted to bake with them.

Look what arrived!!! I'm so excited to do some baking!! Thanks @dorkabrain!! #pumpkinspice #candycorn

After finding this recipe on pinterest, I knew Candy Corn M&M cookies were going to happen! The only thing I changed was I substituted unsweetened applesauce for the oil. The cookies turned out super good! As usual when I add applesauce, the cookies are a bit cakey but we like them like that in this household.

The best part was finding a bigger piece of M&M inside the cookie and the white chocolate would just melt in your mouth. Needless to say, these cookies didn't last too long.

After making these, I also made up some sugar cookies as per Adam's request (as good as they are, they're a GIANT pain in the ass to make) and decided to use some of the Autumn leaves sprinkles I bought at The Bulk Barn.

I earned some points with Adam by adding some almond buttercream to some of the cookies too.

Autumn Sugar Cookies

Sugar cookies are not my favourite, but the frosted ones are especially yummy! A week later, though, and I'm still finding little sprinkle leaves randomly throughout my kitchen.

I want to try out so many more cookie and cake recipes this month! Expect at least two more Autumn/Halloween-themed baking posts (not kidding!).

Autumn Baking

Autumn is in full swing here... at least in our place. I have apple and pumpkin scented candles burning (not at the same time though) and pumpkin scented air room fresheners. Cardigans, knee high socks, and flannel pajama pants have become a staple most days and nights.

I have a package at the post office that's waiting for me and I'm pretty sure it contains some Autumn-themed goodies for me to bake with!

I'm also drooling and loving these other Autumn recipes I've found online. I'm hoping to try most of them over the next couple of months.

Candy Corn Bark

Cinnamon and Spice Sweet Potato Bread

Pumpkin Hot Chocolate

Pumpkin Poke Cake

And well, Pusheen has the right idea...

Autumn Love

Autumn, (I typed Fall first but remembered that not everyone uses that word, so we're going with 'Autumn') is my favourite season! The temperature has dropped drastically here over the last couple of weeks. It's like the heatwave we had in July used up our heat quota for summer. Mornings and evenings have been reminding me of Autumn lately. I tend to have to wear a cardigan during these times of the day right now.

Recently I have found myself wanting to wear clothes and colours and patterns more suited for Autumn. I'm excited to wear leggings with my boots and to pair them with every dress and skirt I own! My boots are calling my name every time I open my closet.

I've been spotting a lot of pumpkin recipes on pinterest lately and I've been seeing this amazing candy corn bark pin all over the site. As soon as stores have stocked candy corn on their shelves, I'm buying some for recipes!

I spotted the easiest pumpkin decoration today - pumpkins and stockings! I'm so going to pick up some ladies' stockings at the dollar store to decorate small pumpkins. What a cute idea!

I know I'm not the only one looking forward to Autumn. There's been lots of twitter chats about pumpkin spiced lattes, pumpkin and apple scented candles, and just about wearing layers. It'll be here before we know it!
