Hello Spring

Spring is here. But not really. We got dumped on with snow again a couple of days ago. Our world looked like a snow globe all day. I think Emma was the only one thrilled about this turn of events in our household. Oh, and I guess the dog too.

January is almost over and I'm really not sure where the month went. It's been a really snowy month. Like, tons of snow. Winter caught up and we've been shoveling every couple of days. It's been a work out. The weather has kept us inside though. Snuggling, reading, watching TV and movies... it's been nice.

Seymore is especially fond of the new bed we bought him on boxing day. It's a small dog bed which fits him perfectly.

Koopa looking cute and actually letting me take a non-blurry photo of him. Tank is off hiding like usual.

I read through the first Lumberjanes trade this month, along with a few other books. I have the second Lumberjanes volume in my to-read pile still too.

I found Star Wars: The Force Awakens Pop! Vinyls really cheap and just had to pick them all up!

I've been adding to my sprinkle collection as I come up with more recipes I want to try.

I couldn't pass up these Valentines and stickers when I was out shopping last week.

I also bought a few other things this month: my first Tsum Tsum pack, a ceramic dish, and two DS games.

January has been a good start to 2016. It's been snowy and I haven't left the house much, but it's been nice and relaxing.

How's January been for you?

February broke records for how cold it was here. And if it wasn't ridiculously cold, it was snowing, and we were shoveling and cleaning our cars off. I'm very happy that March has showed up and Spring is around the corner!

I found bubble tea! A place in the food court at our mall has a small sign for bubble tea. When Adam pointed it out to me, I ran over and ordered one. They blended it and made it into a slushie, but they did have a couple of jelly flavours. It wasn't bad. Better than no bubble tea.

Kitty snuggles.

Weird and hyper kitty.

I finally read the first izombie trade.

Wearing a new dress to brighten the cold and dark days.

Have I told you how excited I am for Spring to show up?!

January has been a cold and snowy month. The cats have become our shadows more than normal since they tend to want more cuddles while it's colder. We've been spending a lot of nights in playing Scrabble, watching movies, and playing video games. It's been quite enjoyable and cozy.

Logan is always interested in helping when I'm filling catnip toys. These were still empty but he knew the catnip would be coming.

I ordered some tea for a Winter pick me up.

I've been baking quite a bit this month and I was excited to pull out my icing colours again for a recipe. I need to dye more things!

To keep up with exercising more regularly, I picked up a yoga mat (yes, an Orla Kiely one from Target!) and have started doing yoga again. I feel so good afterwards. I love how it stretches you out completely. And it's incredibly relaxing until a cold cat nose touches your bare skin.

Thrift store finds.

I've been enjoying the pretty sunsets after cold Winter days.

On a recent walk we spotted the moon in a picture-perfect blue sky. And don't let this sky fool you, it was -20 degrees Celsius out.

How was January for you?

To Do List: January

It's cold. Today when I woke up it felt like -40 degrees Celsius with the windchill and it didn't warm up much. This afternoon it felt like -35. It's easy to be a homebody in this weather. Stay in a warm house, drinking hot drinks, and wrapped in blankets. Don't get me wrong, that was how I spent most of my morning and evening. But I have to get out of the house sometimes. I need sunshine and to just leave the house.

So in spirit of getting out of the house or at least off the couch this month, typically one of the colder Winter months, here's my January to do list:

- ice skating on Ramsey Lake
- exercising regularly at home
- have a board game night, even if it's just with Adam
- start prepping for my first comic convention of the season (March is not that far away... eeek!)
- go for snowy but sunny afternoon walks

What are your favourite Winter activities?

My Life In Photos

My life has been all about Christmas pretty much the past couple of weeks.... shopping, baking, writing out cards, putting up decorations... And I'm not complaining because I love this time of year!

This is the first year we've had a Christmas tree and I was very excited to put it up. Our tree has been up for almost a month and Seymore hasn't broke it yet! The bottom branches are a bit bent and we've had to move all ornaments up a couple of feet, but other than that, the tree is working out!

I recently came across Itty Bittys at Hallmark and died of cuteness! I suggest you check out the link and swoon over all the little cuties. These two little guys came home with me to join my other Christmas decorations.

The kitties have been melting my heart lately. They keep cuddling and cleaning each other <3

The snow! The weather keeps coating us in snow which turns the outdoors into a beautiful Winter Wonderland.

While Christmas shopping I picked up these for myself because how could I not?!

One of our date nights recently was seeing Mockingjay Part 1 which I loved! It didn't leave much out from the book which I really enjoyed.

Winter is here which means I'm rewatching Gilmore Girls again.

Have you been enjoying the Christmas season?

The last few weeks have been crazy weather-wise. We went from a really wet Autumn to snow and freezing cold temperatures within a week! One week we're raking leaves and the next we're shoveling our driveway.

Our house has been chilly and not only am I layered up and hiding under blankets, but the cats have taken to snuggling together on this blanket.

See? Leaf raking!

A week later, snow!

Rocking my fox socks!

I have some amazing friends! One sent me this Pumpkin Spice coffee which is SO good and smells heavenly!

Another friend sent me Pumpkin Spice Oreos and they're definitely my favourite Oreo flavour! They're not too sweet or artificial tasting. Just perfect!

Is Winter upon you yet? We have a lot of snow again... flurries have been falling on and off for the past week. It sure looks pretty though.
