Runs on Coffee and Cream

Cold, Winter days are upon us and I'm already wearing my Winter coat daily now. Honestly though, I love wearing layers and I'm not going to complain about living in comfy leggings, oversized sweaters and cardigans. I just wish I was able to wear dresses at work, even though that'd be ridiculous if you knew where I worked. But I want more opportunities to dress up. That's one thing I miss about working in an office - I could live in dresses and tights.

Now if I had the money and/or reasons to wear these dresses, they'd be added to my wardrobe asap!

ModCloth has been releasing some amazing dresses that are perfect for Autumn and I want them all! Falling in love with dresses from ModCloth isn't a new thing, but with Autumn being my favourite season, I love these dresses even more since they'd be perfect with tights, boots, and a cardigan!

My life is just crazy lately. Between getting ready to move into our house (next weekend... omg!), working on sewing projects for Fan Expo Canada, and planning Summer Camp for IGGPPC, every day just flies by! But I've been having some fun in between all the madness!

Dresses

Of course I had to go through all my clothes while packing up. I was definitely holding on to things that just don't fit anymore or are falling apart (dresses with little holes in it). This means my closet has some space in it again and even though this will scare Adam, I've been eyeing up a few dresses on ModCloth.

Ever since me and Adam decided on NYC being our trip this year, I can't stop thinking about it, planning it, looking things up online... I lose track of time thinking about and planning our trip constantly. It's fun though and I'm beyond excited!

Of course I've thought about what I'll wear and pack. I want to look cute but I also need to pack sensible clothes... lots of layers and shoes I can walk around in all day comfortably. But I'm definitely dreaming of adorable ModCloth dresses, trench coats, and Spring shoes. All things that I won't be packing, well maybe there will be dresses, but that's about it. Either way, I can dream about the perfect Big City wardrobe...

Valentine's Day is this Friday. Unfortunately I work all day but me and Adam will be fitting in a dinner that evening. I'm not sure what dress I'll be pulling out of my closet to wear out to dinner, but if I could afford to buy a new outfit for the special occasion, these items would top my wish list!

The weather is mostly cold here now. We're lucky if the temperature goes above 5 degrees, which doesn't happen most days. Because of working in a retail environment, I spend a lot of my days in jeans. So when I go out with Adam I have the urge to wear a dress, thick tights, and a heavy cardigan. Date nights make me excited because I get to put together cute outfits and dress up. Even when we're staying in for a movie night, it's fun to wear a super comfy dress and sweater and have a yummy smelling candle lit. If I could, I'd own everything on this wish list because it's all so perfect for this time of year!

I finished the first season of Call the Midwife last night and I'm so excited to start season two! As I stated in my previous post, I love the show! The characters, settings, clothes, stories... it's all very addictive. The show takes place during the 1950s and I've always been a huge fan of the clothing and hair styles from the 50s and early 60s era. Shows like Pan Am and Mad Men win me over partially because of the fashion and retro settings.

On Call the Midwife, most of the cast are either nuns or midwives. But when the midwives are in regular clothes, they're wearing adorable dresses, swing skirts, and cute cardigans.







Another favourite thing of mine about this show... the music! I'm a sucker for oldies music!

ModCloth has always been the site that I go to when I want to drool over amazing, retro-looking dresses. But I think I'm also in love with their dresses because of the fabrics and prints they use. Yes, I love retro A-line dresses, but when the dress is made from fabric covered in wine, it's make me love the dress 10 times more! Quirky, graphic prints have become my weakness <3

It's been a super productive day for me. The IGGPPC staff had our first live Google Hangout. I went on a 2 hour hike and I'm already feeling sore from it but it's a good hurt. And I have been staring at spreadsheets for hours working on IGGPPC things. It's nice having a little Internet break...

We are watching Mad Men Season 2 currently and once again, I'm infatuated with Joan and her beauty. 



I'm obsessed with all the Spring dresses on Modcloth... I want all the dresses!!




I completely fell in love with Lara and her DIY on IGGPPC!

Today is the first day of Spring... it's chilly and windy out but at least the sun is shining! I'm excited for the weather to warm up and to start enjoying activities outdoors.



I'm itching to pick up a few new Spring items for my wardrobe. I'm leaning towards a new Spring dress but I'm also in love with this light, fluttery shirt from Old Navy. 



And of course I'm loving so many dresses on ModCloth...



This print is perfect for Spring! The dress is covered in leaves!



I'm in LOVE with the style of these dresses!




And I don't need any shoes for the Spring and Summer... I recently bought a pair of wedges at a shoe charity event that will be my new shoes for this season. But I'm in love with these!

Once the sun goes down, the weather cools off completely here. I have been freezing at night since we haven't pulled out our comforter yet. I've been stealing the sheets and trying to steal all of Adam's body heat every night. I've been able to wear leggings a few times over the last couple of weeks and I finally pulled out a scarf yesturday. We are right on the edge of Fall and I love it!

Besides a cardigan, I have been very strict with my clothes shopping lately. I'm trying to buy items I can use all year and I'm looking for dresses that are an appropriate length so I can wear them everywhere, including family functions. The main thing I want to pick up soon is a new pair of riding boots to wear through the Fall and Winter with all my dresses and skirts.

I had today to myself so I spent some time 'window shopping' online. I'm so in love with these dresses.
 





How amazing is this pattern?? I'm sad it's sold out right now.


I will own these boots by the end of the month. I need a new pair and the last pair I bought from Payless lasted 5 years. I still wear them sometimes but the leather is so soft they slouch now and there's some tears in the outer layer.

I've said it so many times before on here, but I love the Fall season. This cool weather makes me a happy girl.

Well, it's the long weekend and I have 3 days off. I'm very excited, especially since we're supposed to have amazing weather. It feels like Spring has snuck up on us since it took a while to get here and then stick around. But my mind, heart, and body have adapted to it pretty quickly... I'm living in sandals and flats and I have pulled out shorts and tank tops already.

Like usual, I've been drooling over some amazing dresses and shoes that would be absolutely perfect for this weather. This is the one thing I miss about working in an office... I had an excuse to wear skirts and dresses everyday. Now, I live in jeans and running shoes working in a retail environment.











Oh, I hope to wear dresses everyday at some point in the future. I am so in love with the new ones that Mod Cloth has been posting.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! So far, we don't have any definite plans, but I know I will be taking advantage of the weather.
