My Life in Photos

July is over and it was a very busy but fun month! I celebrated my birthday, I had my Aunt, Uncle, and 3 cousins come stay with us for a few days, I headed back to Hamilton for two weekends, and me and Adam continued to explore Sudbury.

We've been continuing our Bell Park walks. I went one morning on my own and came across a huge family of Canadian Geese.

We took an evening walk when my Aunt and her family came up to visit and though it was chilly, it was a beautiful evening. The water looked gorgeous.

We also checked out Dynamic Earth when they were up. They had a dinosaur exhibit going on. It was fun but also a little stressful. We did the mining tour and going 65 feet underground and walking through mines was slightly claustrophobic for me.... Dynamic Earth

We also spent a lot of time at Moonlight Beach this month. It has easily become one of my favourite places here. The beach is huge and the water is amazing. I need to spend at least a few more days there in August.  Beach time!

Surprisingly we only had ice cream once but the cones were huge!

We hit up a breakfast place when my Aunt was up and holy crap was it good! The servings were insanely huge and everything was really yummy! My crepe was gigantic. I shared it with three other people and I still left some on the plate.

I see some amazing sunsets from the craft room. This one was a favourite of mine because it turned the sky into cotton candy.

Of course I have to share some photos of my kitties. They did a lot of lounging this past month because of the heat.
Seymore and Logan

Logan's been my craft room buddy. My craft room buddy today. He always crosses his paws when he's lounging like this. #catsofinstagram #blackcat

And well, Seymore is just a big lazy fart. He likes sleeping on his back, which makes me rub his belly. Kitty bellies are a weakness of mine!
I've only been away one day so far but I miss this farthead <3 #gingerkitty

How was July for you? Do anything fun or interesting? I'm looking forward to August. I have three different sets of guests coming up to visit us. And I have to sew my ass off for Fan Expo!

ConBravo

This past weekend was ConBravo! in Hamilton. I have never been to it as a vendor or spectator. I was surprised by how busy the show was initially and how many people were in cosplay, though I felt like I didn't know who anyone was dressed as. As the weekend went on, things definitely got quiet in the vendor/artist alley room. Maybe everyone was at the panels or participating in all the fun activities listed on the schedule? I did meet some really awesome and talented people over the weekend though which was great. I plan on spending some paypal money in Etsy shops from the artists I met over the weekend. There's a few artists I'm going to share on my blog in the near future too because they're just too awesome not to.

These are some pictures from the weekend. I was in a semi-dark corner in the room and even though I saw a lot of cosplay as I ventured to the washroom or to explore the other floors, we didn't get many of them down the aisles in Artist Alley. I posted more photos from the weekend on my Facebook page. One of the highlights from my weekend was meeting Mara Wilson on Sunday. She was incredibly sweet which didn't surprise me at all.

I love this photo... we went to check out the terrace during Sunday afternoon and there was a Quidditch match going on in the far background, Rose and the Doctor were dancing on the platform, and Ursula and Ariel were getting photos taken. Oh, and there's a red furry dragon lounging beside the garden.

What I wore on the last day - my new t-shirt that I got for my birthday!

It was a fun weekend. I enjoyed not having to drive far since the convention was in downtown Hamilton and not very far from my parents'. But to be honest, these smaller cons just make me more and more excited for Toronto Fan Expo!

Style Inspiration

As I've mentioned in previous posts, I really enjoy Pretty Little Liars. One of my favourite things about the show is seeing what the girls wear. I love all their fashion styles and I always love seeing how Hanna does her hair or what jewelry Aria is wearing. By far though, my favourite character on the show is Hanna Marin. I love her clothes, hair, accessories, and personality. She's cute and has some really funny lines.

Hanna's definitely not afraid of wearing colour and patterns. Her outfits are always really young, modern and hip. I wouldn't necessarily wear a lot of her clothes but I definitely like looking at them. Though, there are a few pieces she's worn that I'd love to have in my own closet. Oh, and I'd love to have all her purses!

To be honest, she also made me want to cut my hair back when I did. I adore her wavy bob and all the cute little ponytail hairstyles she does with it. Of course my hair looks nothing like hers and I can't for the life of me style it properly. But I still love Hanna's hair. She even makes me want to go back to blonde sometimes.

Hanna's style is very inspiring because she's not afraid to wear clothes that draw attention to her. Her clothes definitely reflect her personality and I like that. I admire her confidence and it makes me want to take more risks with my own fashion choices.

This upcoming weekend is my next comic convention, ConBravo! I've never done it before so it'll be interesting to see what it's like. It's so nice that it's in Hamilton so I don't have to drive far from my parents' house. I'll be sure to take lots of photos over the weekend!

If you're going to ConBravo! this weekend, come find me in Artist Alley!

What I'm Loving Now

I just finished watching the third season of Pretty Little Liars. This show is such a guilty pleasure for me. I honestly don't really know anyone else who watches it. It's just so addicting and this season was no different. As usual, I was hooked within a few episodes. It's the whole not trusting all the characters' innocence that gets to me. I have to keep watching episode after episode to know what's going to happen!

Me and Adam are also re-watching the first season of Archer since he got it on blu-ray. That show is so hilarious and if you haven't watched it, do it! When I initially started the show, I was iffy on it but after a few episodes and getting to know the characters, I loved it. It's such a funny show and I'm picking up even more hilarious lines watching it a second time.

Ok, I know you're all probably so annoyed with my hair talk because I feel like every two months I'm itching for a change. I'm back on a bangs kick. I blame Veronica Mars... damn her sassy side bangs in season two! I think I've finally decided that I'm going to get them at the end of August. I figure I can handle them for a few weeks during the end of summer. And then I'll be able to enjoy them in the Fall without a sweaty forehead.

Since moving, we've been shopping at a different grocery store because apparently moving 5 hours up North means we don't have the same grocery stores up here... a few of them are the same and then there are a couple I've never heard of. But the store we ALWAYS shopped at, isn't up here. Anyways, the store we've been shopping at carries these Japanese Buns. When I found them in the bakery the first time I was so excited. I've tried two different types now and they are delicious! They're cheap too at only 99 cents a piece. It's a yummy treat that's not overly sweet.
Coconut Bun
The most delicious treat I found at the grocery store today. It had a creamy coconut filling!

Custard Bun
  Today's treat: custard bun!! #nomnomnom #utanebread #japanesebun

I came across this song on the weekend and it's basically been on repeat all week... it's so upbeat and dancey and catchy. I love it and it will be on my iPod for my next drive down to Hamilton so I can do some car dancing!

Pink Lemonade Love

Summer is here and making itself known! We have been under a heat advisory for three days now and temperatures have been hitting the 40 degree mark with the humidity. I have been drinking so much water, iced tea, and iced coffee. But one thing I've been craving is lemonade, particularly pink lemonade. Grocery shopping is on my to-do list today so I will definitely be picking up ingredients and possibly some frozen concentrated cans of it.

Pink lemonade is one of my favourite cold drinks and it holds memories for me from our honeymoon. We spent our honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and the resort had slushy machines everywhere! They were filled with delicious, non-alcoholic, cold slushy drinks.... there was pina colada, strawberry daiquiri, and pink lemonade! I drank so much of these and now if I have any one of those drinks I instantly think of laying on the beach or wearing a sundress and sitting at one of the bars on the resort when the sun went down.

A pink and yellow sundress is the perfect thing to wear while sipping iced cold lemonade!

I have found a few recipes through Pinterest for pink lemonade treats... I have a plan to make one of them next week... but I'm also drooling over the thought of these:

Pink Lemonade French Macaroons

Pink Lemonade Fudge
Though, that pretty pink fudge is made with this frosting.... and of course it's only available in the U.S. I wish Canada had a wider range of food products like the U.S. I would have made this fudge by now!!

Pink and yellow are two of my favourite colours and I so want to have a 'Pink Lemonade' themed party one day. It'd be the perfect theme for a summer party!

What are your favourite summer drinks?
