Outside Adventures

A couple weeks back when we had guests up, we went for a small hike around Ramsey Lake. We started at Moonlight Beach and walked around the side of the lake.

Rocks everywhere!

We spotted a snake along the side of the lake in the bush. We're guessing it was a water snake and it gave me the creeps, but soon after I found frogs chilling in the water.

A few days later me and Adam headed to Bell Park in the evening for a walk at the lake.

It saddens me a bit that summer is pretty much over. I definitely want to go on more hikes during Autumn since the mosquitoes will be gone then. And I really do love everything that comes with the Fall season. But I've really fallen in love with Ramsey Lake and it'll be sad to have to wait so long to go swimming again.

Weekly Adventures

A couple of weeks ago my cousin/best friend, Mary, came up to visit us with her boyfriend. It was a fun weekend, but a cooler one. We wanted to go swimming but it was just way too cool down at the lake. The first day we ended up having a picnic lunch at the park and went for a little walk along the boardwalk. The sky was gorgeous. The clouds just looked amazing above Ramsey Lake.

Blueberry Pancake and Lemon Cupcakes that Mary twisted my arm to buy... yeah right!

The second day we ended up going for a hike near the beach which was fun. I'll be sharing those photos later.

Once they left to go home, my life turned into a sewing factory! We've had a lot of rainy days and we really haven't ventured out too much. I'm guessing it's because of the last two weeks that I'm looking forward to the upcoming weekend.. The weather is supposed to be warmer so I've insisted on a picnic lunch at the beach and a swim in the lake! I don't care if it's cooler, I just want to go swimming in the lake again! And then we'll be seeing Kick-Ass 2 before I head to Hamilton next week.

Tomorrow, Round 6 opens for International Geek Girl Pen Pals Club! After taking July off, I'm really excited for this round! I actually missed pairing House Organa members. If you're interested in being paired with a geeky pen pal, registration opens tomorrow at 9 a.m. (EST)!

I've also been following along with the new 30-Day Photo Challenge on my Instagram feed! It's fun finding photos for all the topics.

August has been too fast of a month. I think it's because I'm looking forward to Toronto Fan Expo....Woo!

My Life in Photos

July is over and it was a very busy but fun month! I celebrated my birthday, I had my Aunt, Uncle, and 3 cousins come stay with us for a few days, I headed back to Hamilton for two weekends, and me and Adam continued to explore Sudbury.

We've been continuing our Bell Park walks. I went one morning on my own and came across a huge family of Canadian Geese.

We took an evening walk when my Aunt and her family came up to visit and though it was chilly, it was a beautiful evening. The water looked gorgeous.

We also checked out Dynamic Earth when they were up. They had a dinosaur exhibit going on. It was fun but also a little stressful. We did the mining tour and going 65 feet underground and walking through mines was slightly claustrophobic for me.... Dynamic Earth

We also spent a lot of time at Moonlight Beach this month. It has easily become one of my favourite places here. The beach is huge and the water is amazing. I need to spend at least a few more days there in August.  Beach time!

Surprisingly we only had ice cream once but the cones were huge!

We hit up a breakfast place when my Aunt was up and holy crap was it good! The servings were insanely huge and everything was really yummy! My crepe was gigantic. I shared it with three other people and I still left some on the plate.

I see some amazing sunsets from the craft room. This one was a favourite of mine because it turned the sky into cotton candy.

Of course I have to share some photos of my kitties. They did a lot of lounging this past month because of the heat.
Seymore and Logan

Logan's been my craft room buddy. My craft room buddy today. He always crosses his paws when he's lounging like this. #catsofinstagram #blackcat

And well, Seymore is just a big lazy fart. He likes sleeping on his back, which makes me rub his belly. Kitty bellies are a weakness of mine!
I've only been away one day so far but I miss this farthead <3 #gingerkitty

How was July for you? Do anything fun or interesting? I'm looking forward to August. I have three different sets of guests coming up to visit us. And I have to sew my ass off for Fan Expo!

My Life in Photos

It's been almost one month since we moved up to Sudbury. It's been a fast month and a very busy one too. We finally went swimming at Lake Ramsey the other day and we're continuing to explore and check everything out. My Mom came up last weekend for a couple of days and we spent a lot of time driving around. We found Dynamic Earth (part of the Science Centre here) which is the home of the Big Nickel. We had quite the view of the city from there which was really nice. Oh and we also went on a moose hunt, but unfortunately didn't come across any...

Pigtails have become necessary in the heat that has finally hit us!

Cupcakes that were at my cousin's stag and doe - s'mores and sundae!
Cupcakes from last night! Mmmmmm... #cupcakes #smores #sundae

I made us a basic cherry chip cake when we first moved in since we were lacking in the 'treat's department. Sprinkles make everything so good!

Froyo date on my last visit into Hamilton.

This has been my view for a lot of June... Veronica Mars and either crafting or my laptop.
I'm thoroughly enjoying my new craft room... Veronica Mars and Etsy updating time!

Adam has decided to set up an aquarium in our bedroom with some fish so we've been to the pet store a couple of times this month. I found the cutest hamster curled up sleeping during our last visit <3
This hamster at the pet store stole my heart this afternoon <3 #animallover

I'm very happy there's ONE Starbucks in Sudbury. The cool lime refresher was so needed this day. Even the cats wanted some.
The kitties are enjoying my lime refresher as much as me <3 #Starbucks #catsofinstagram

The quick stop me and my Mom made at the Big Nickel/Dynamic Earth.

Lake Ramsey has easily become my favourite spot in Sudbury so far. I showed my Mom the boardwalk and then a couple days later me and Adam went back for a picnic lunch and a quick swim on our 2 year anniversary. We had dinner at home with wine and then went out to see Man of Steel.

It was a really fun month and we have so many other fun activities and events coming up over the next couple of months. I'm also planning on swimming at the lake at least once a week over the summer. It's way too beautiful not to.

How was your month?

Outside Adventures

Since moving up to Sudbury, we've been on handful of walks around the city.

Our first path we explored, was in the nearby conservation area. Unfortunately it was a damp day and we were completely eaten alive by mosquitoes so we didn't go as far as we wanted to. But the small part we did see was beautiful and so magical. At first you could catch glimpses of the backs of houses between the trees and then all of a sudden we just hit a spot that can be explained as 'fairytale'- like.

On one of the sunnier days, we decided to check out the boardwalk along Lake Ramsey. We walked from Bell Park towards Science North. The view was gorgeous and I found ducks!!

I'm looking forward to checking out more of the conservation areas and hiking trails but I know now to coat myself in bug spray first! And I can't wait for the weather to get warmer here so we can go swimming in Lake Ramsey this summer!
