Hello June

It's hard to believe it's June already. I'm not too sure where the time has gone, but here we are.

May

May was a great month. We went to Hamilton for the first time since Emma was born. It was a successful visit and the 5 hour drive there and back went well. Emma slept for most of the drive and we had interesting adventures at rest stops changing diapers and feeding her. We also had my mom up for a longer than normal visit which was nice. There was no rushing. Just hanging out and enjoying ourselves.

We played many games of Catan in May.

Matcha Lemonade season!
Lunch at Twiggs.

The summer heat showed up this month. My walks around the neighbourhood with Emma were now sunny and hot walks. I officially have tank top tan lines. We also went to Bell Park a couple of times. The most recent time was somewhat of a picnic with friends. Too bad their were a gazillion (I'm not kidding) tent caterpillars at the park trying to join us. It was a little annoying.

We ended May with Paramedic Week here in the city. We attended the proclamation last Monday to start off Paramedic week so of course I took a ton of photos of Emma and Adam with the ambulance since this was the first time Emma was at Daddy's work.

June only just started but so far it's been a rainy month. I'd really like for the sun to come back now! We have a lot of fun plans for this month. Graphic-con is this Saturday, which is my first craft show of the year. I've been able to sew a bit with Emma around so I have faith that I'll be able to get back into sewing more and more as she gets older. There's two weekends that family is coming to visit us, Father's Day, our wedding anniversary, and the month ends with a friend's wedding. So it looks like it'll be another busy month.

Can you believe this cutie is 3 months old?!

I'm pumped for the summer with Emma. I have so many things I want to do with her. If you follow me on Instagram, I apologize in advance for all the adorable baby pics! I've been trying to keep them separate in a private account on Instagram. But they keep leaking back into my main account. Whoops!

My Life In Photos

So, um, where did April go? It's like I blinked and all of a sudden the month is almost over. April was full of cozy things at home; Easter, Adam's birthday, and lots of kitty snuggles.

Logan adores Adam. I love getting photos of them together.

Natural lighting is always best.

They used to snuggle like this and they stopped for a few years. They're back to snuggling together at Adam's feet while he plays video games. It melts my heart.

My amazing husband found a local place that makes macarons and they were heavenly!

My hair's straight! Only because a hair stylist did it.... I need to invest in a hair straightener and then actually straighten my hair because I like it straight.

Of course I had to try the Unicorn Frappuccino but they were out of sour syrup and sprinkles! So I ended up with a pretty mango flavoured frapp.

I think my newest obsession is showing in my most recent purchases.

How was April for you? I'm pretty excited for May and the plans we have during the month.

All The Colours

Since I'm on a unicorn kick, as well as the fact that we have spring weather finally, I'm obsessed with colours - pastel, bright, tropical. All the colours! I bought a sweater last week and it's coral! This is odd for me since I tend to fall into the grey/blue category with most of my clothing. I will more than likely pair that coral sweater with a grey tank. But it's such a bright, happy colour and I'm excited to wear it.

I've been drawn to colours everywhere. These are a few of my favourite colourful things right now:

1. Tarte's Make Believe in Yourself collection. I want it all.

2. Starbucks' spring cups. They're too cute.

3. Davids Tea Summer Collection. I plan on picking up an iced tea press for myself to have fresh iced tea all summer!

All these colours put me in such a happy mood so I plan on surrounding myself with them.

What I'm Loving Now

Coffee, planners, and more coffee...

Peppermint Mocha

Lately I've been working a lot of 6 a.m. shifts that are leaving me exhausted and I'm dragging my butt out of bed every morning. And it's no secret that I'm a huge coffee lover so I've been consuming a bit more than normal to offset my tiredness. I picked up a box of Starbucks VIA Instant Peppermint Mocha Latte recently since they were on sale. I've been enjoying one every couple of mornings which have made my 6 a.m. shifts a little less horrible. They're not as good as a fresh one from Starbucks but they are a nice treat in replace of my regular coffee.

Planner Stickers

The new year brought a new planner for me to fill up for 2017. I've set a goal to make use of my planner more. To control my scatterbrain, anxiety, and stress by being a bit more organized. This has created a new obsession however... planner stickers! I keep looking at them at Michael's and I'm just waiting for them to go on sale before buying more. I've also been spending way too long on Etsy looking at stickers on there too. I'll be sure to share my favourites in a future post.

Midnight Magic: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Last Saturday was Midnight Magic, which was the release party for the new Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The book was to be available at midnight, as the release date was July 31st. Our local Chapters Indigo book store was holding at Midnight Magic event and I knew I had to attend since I had never been to a midnight release for anything.

Chapters has a Starbucks inside and I was planning on trying my first Butterbeer frappuccino (from the Starbucks Secret Menu) since I was always too chicken to ask for the elaborate drink. However, they thought ahead and turned themselves into the Three Broomsticks and had multiple Harry Potter-inspired drinks. It was extra fun ordering a Butterbeer Frappuccino using the name, and not asking for a crazy custom drink.

The drink was delicious and I'd definitely get it again. There was an incredible amount of caramel throughout the frapp which was amazing. And I liked the final touch of adding cinnamon to the top of the whipped cream.

After obtaining my Butterbeer frapp, I got myself sorted (Gryffindor!), had my tarot cards read, played Harry Potter trivia and won some chocolate coins, and admired all the cosplays and Harry Potter clothing being worn.

At 11:50 p.m. they had us line up and when the clock hit midnight, the line moved quickly and I was handed my copy of the book in a limited edition tote bag. I was so excited and full of adrenaline when I got home that I read for two hours before my eyes deceived me and I had to sleep. I haven't been able to read the book as much as I'd like (thanks to silly work, chores, and errands) but I'm flying through it at a faster rate than normal. So far I'm enjoying it a lot and I will avoid giving spoilers, but they did a great job bringing the Harry Potter universe to life again.

Did you pick up Harry Potter and the Cursed Child yet?

What I'm Loving Now

I feel like what I'm loving now are such typical Summer things - iced coffee and blonde hair!

Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew

Starbucks released this drink a couple months ago and I'm officially addicted. I've had it regular and blended with ice. It's delicious, smooth, and just the right amount of sweet. It's my new favourite drink for the Summer. I'm now sold on cold brew coffee and I might have to pick up a cold coffee brewer for home. Also, the vanilla sweet cream is delicious. I'll have to find a copycat recipe for it.

Back to Blonde

In the past year I've contemplated on going back to my natural hair colour, blonde, numerous times. And I've finally made my decision and booked my appointment to start the process. It won't be a one-step thing since I've been box dying my hair red for 7 years. I need to get the orange out and allow some of my natural colour to grow in. But after searching online and looking at tons of pictures, I have an idea of what I'd like my end result to be. Natural blonde up top, light blonde on the bottom. Finding these end result pictures has me absolutely itching to get the process going.

What are you loving now?

My Life In Photos

Today is Adam's birthday so we have plans this evening and I spent my morning baking a cake, wrapping gifts, and just doing some daily chores so the rest of the day would be free for birthday celebrations.

April's been an odd month and a fast month. With Easter, Adam's birthday, Spring showing up, and getting ready for my next convention in June, it's been busy.

Speaking of birthdays, I picked up a Birthday Cake Frappuccino at Starbucks earlier this month for the Frappuccino's birthday. It was so good and the raspberry whipped cream was amazing!

More TMNT figures were purchased and I love that they're from the LARPing episode!

Our little cactus from last year is still thriving. We want to get a couple more for the window sill.

I found Peeps cat toys at PetSmart just before Easter! I was so excited to bring these home for the cats. I think I ended up being more excited about these toys than they were though...

Kitty snuggles while I play video games.

This picture is blurry but I love it. Logan tends to get very interested in my phone or camera when I pull it out. He always makes it tough to photograph him.

Have a good day!

My Life in Photos

I have no idea what has hit me, but I've been feeling under the weather today. It was my day off today and we decided to go full-force on Spring cleaning.... cleaning out our dressers and closets, scrubbing the bathroom, dusting, bagged up clothes and items for donation, etc. By early afternoon I started to feel light-headed and a little dizzy.

Since then I cannot shake this feeling. We slowed down at dinner time and watched Kick-Ass. I figure once I'm done this post I'm going to lay on the couch with the kitties and watch an episode of Bones before bed. Hopefully a good night sleep will make me feel better tomorrow.

The weather has been gorgeous here and we're taking every opportunity to head outside. Because it's been warm, we've been indulging in cool treats lately too.

I'm back to work tomorrow so I'm hoping I feel better in the morning. At least I only work 2 shifts and then I'm off for the long weekend!

I hope you are all having a great week... only 2 more days until the weekend!
