Runs on Coffee and Cream

Lately I've been flying through audio books again. Probably because I'm working on sewing projects often while I get ready for comic conventions and also because I've switched to some lighter YA reads which tend to be shorter in length.

Fairest

I've been looking forward to more books in The Lunar Chronicles series ever since I finished Cress. The first three books were great and I loved all of them. Fairest is a prequel that tells Queen Levana's back story. It was a great read and I found myself glued to this book. I honestly didn't think I'd ever feel bad for Levana but there were a few moments throughout the book where I felt for her. But I also could see her manipulative monster come through. This book has re-sparked my love for The Lunar Chronicles and has me very excited for the new book, Winter, which comes out in November.


Once Upon A Time

I just finished up Season four of OUAT. I started the show late in the season and marathoned the entire thing over the last couple of weeks. I really enjoyed the first half of the season with the Frozen storyline. Elsa and Anna were great characters on the show. The actors were perfect too. The second half of the season, Queens of Darkness, was good but I didn't love all of it. I don't want to give any spoilers but Cruella got on my nerves and I disliked Gold more than normal. I did get a decent dose of Captain Swan this season though, so that was always enjoyable.

It's Winter and it's really cold out there! Also, I have a ton of sewing to do with my first comic convention next month. So I've been watching a lot of television.

Here's what I've been watching, enjoying, and my ideal watching style.

Once Upon A Time

I've been sharing my love for Season 3 of OUAT on my blog recently. The story between Emma Swan and Captain Hook, seeing Snow White and Prince Charming move forward with their relationship, and being introduced to new fictional (fairy tale) characters in Storybrooke has been very entertaining.


Watching Style:
Some episodes didn't grab my attention as much as others. Episodes typically focus on a couple of characters involved in a certain storyline, and if I don't care for them, those episodes aren't as enjoyable. I watched both Season 2 and 3 in a marathon-manner which I think worked best for me. That way if one episode wasn't as exciting or interesting, I was watching another one right after. I spent a lot of time pinning bags and filling cat toys while watching these seasons.

Sons of Anarchy

Adam and I started Season 1 of SOA finally. We've had the boxset sitting on our bookshelf for a while. We're a little over half way through the season but I can already tell this show is going to be addictive. The characters are great and the story is very interesting.


Watching Style:
Currently, we're just watching an episode a day when we're home together. We're savouring the season, though, I'm at the point where I want to marathon the rest of the season. Tensions are high and you can see some thing is building to lead up to the season finale and that's sparked my interest greatly. I'm guessing we'll be watching the rest of Season 1 quicker than how we started watching it. The 'let's just watch one more episode' time is coming.

Gilmore Girls

How many times have I re-watched this show?! Don't answer that.... Well, I'm re-watching it again. It's become my television show I watch while I sew. I've seen the episodes enough that it's ok if I miss a line or two because of my sewing machine.


Watching Style:
Marathon-style all the way! Like I said, I've seen this show enough that I don't need to savour the seasons and give each episode my undivided attention. Though, it's funny when I hit an episode I really enjoy. I find myself stopping my sewing machine mid-tote bag to watch the TV screen.

Cougar Town

The last season recently started so I'm catching up on episodes that have aired already. I've enjoyed each season of this show. The writing is funny and I really like a few of the characters a lot. I have found the seasons have gotten more and more silly. This isn't always bad but sometimes the episode or scene goes too far.


Watching Style:
I've been watching an episode here and there. I want to give each episode my attention since it's the last season and it'll be wrapping all the storylines up. Plus, most episodes have a lot of physical humour so it's best to have two eyes on the TV screen.

What have you been watching? I picked up the second season of Being Erica recently so I think I'll be starting that soon.

Sewing

As I stated above, sewing has become my life again because I always go overboard when preparing for conventions. But I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I'm excited for my first convention of the year and I'm loving my finished products. Plus, hanging out in my craft room with Gilmore Girls on the TV and coffee beside me while I work on things is just perfection.

This week wasn't the greatest for me. I fell earlier in the week while ice skating and I've been left with a nasty bruise on my knee that makes me cringe every time something touches it, work has made me frustrated, and I haven't been feeling the healthiest. It's almost like a cold is just starting to brew inside of me. Either that or this dry weather and heat pumping indoors is making my nose and throat hurt.

So besides work, sewing, and IGGPPC duties, I've spent a lot of time this week watching TV and reading.

Once Upon A Time

Like I stated in my earlier post this week, I started watching OUAT again. I quickly got addicted to Season two and flew through all the episodes. Bringing Hook and Neal back into the storyline made things interesting and I really enjoy both of their characters. If you've seen Season two, you know how the last episode ends so I clearly had to start Season three right away. I'm already five episodes in and I'm loving Neverland. I'm guessing I'll be glued to my television all next week with sewing projects in hand and OUAT on.

I'm giving Once Upon A Time (OUAT) a go again. I started watching it years ago when it first aired. I really enjoyed it, but during the second season I moved and I just couldn't keep up with the episodes as they aired so I gave up. Recently I've been hearing a lot about this show again. A chunk of my Twitter feed and one of my best friends keep talking about it. So I thought I'd try watching it again. Plus, it's a bit easier now since it's a few seasons in and I can marathon the earlier seasons. I'm now three episodes away from finishing season two and I'm thoroughly enjoying the storyline and most of the characters.

Ginnifer Goodwin has always been an actress I liked (she's my favourite sister wife from Big Love). So I quickly liked and started to cheer for Snow White/Mary Margaret on Once Upon A Time. Ginnifer is adorable and she portrays such a sweet, honest, caring, and brave character on OUAT. And to top off her adorableness, she has a wardrobe I'd like to raid!

Her wardrobe is filled with feminine and soft styles and also some menswear-style clothes. I just adore her outfits. The coats, scarves, and hats they layer her in are also lovely.



I'm excited to keep watching this show and see how the story and characters continue to develop. Do you watch OUAT?
