It's Friday! Here are my fandom favourites of the week:
1. Teeturtle just released some new Marvel tees and they're so amazing! I can't get over how cute the Squirrel Girl design is and how accurate the Deadpool one is.
2. I haven't paid much attention to the Funko Fabrikations plushies. They're cute, but nothing I have to own. That is until I saw Stay Puft at EB Games. He's so unbelievably adorable!
3. Fan Expo Canada is my next big comic convention. It happens over labor day weekend in September and I'm always excited for it. But can we look at some of the guests that have been announced so far? I'm fangirling hard every time they announce another guest. Eeee!

Fandom Favourites
Monday, 18 April 2016
It's hard to narrow down what fandom things are making me excited lately because so much news and awesome things keep coming out!
1. The trailer for the new Ghostbusters movie makes me super giddy and I've watched it at least 10 times now. I'm already eyeing up the new Pop! Vinyl figures for the movie. .
2. The new trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them was released last weekend, and holy crap, it gives me chills! I cannot wait to be back in that world.
3. Entertainment Weekly released new photos for the Gilmore Girls return - both of Lorelai and Rory and some on-set photos. And I've been spending a lot of time dissecting the on-set photos with friends. To say I'm a little excited is an understatement. Oh, and the fact that Sookie has been confirmed to come back has basically made my year!
4. Deadpool 2 was confirmed which is pretty exciting since the first movie was so good. But what excites me most? The fact that Cable will be in it. So they better not screw up the casting.

Deadpool Cake
Monday, 15 February 2016
We went to see Deadpool this past weekend for our Valentine's date. The movie was so good and they did a damn good job portraying Deadpool very accurately to the comic books. The action scenes were a lot of fun and the writing was hilarious and smart. Needless to say, I'm so pumped for the possibility of a sequel and what new characters they might bring in for it.
Because it was Valentine's weekend and I was super excited for the movie, I decided to make a super chocolatey cake for dessert and to decorate it Deadpool-style.
I started with a devil's food cake mix (you have to go naughty for Deadpool) and baked it in two 9" pans. Once cooled, I used strawberry jam in between the layers to attach the two cake pieces. I thought the jam would make a nice oozy, blood-like center. Though, the jam is so dark against the chocolate cake, there's no way to photograph it well.
After that, I frosted the entire cake with homemade chocolate buttercream. And not to toot my own horn, but my chocolate buttercream is to die for!
Then I had my amazing husband help me with free-handing the Deadpool logo onto the cake with coloured sugar sprinkles. I'm super impressed and happy with how well it turned out. After cutting into it last night, I can vouch that this cake is insanely good and I look forward to eating more of it tonight.
Did you head out to see Deadpool yet? If so, what'd you think?

Everyday Cosplay: Deadpool
Monday, 8 February 2016
Deadpool comes out on Friday and I'm so incredibly excited to see it. Like many Deadpool fans, we will be seeing the movie as our Valentine's Day date. What better way to celebrate a romantic day but with Deadpool?!
To get ready for the movie I came up with a Deadpool Everyday Cosplay that I'd love to wear! Mixing a cute and sweet dress with tougher accessories is one of my favourite styles.

Finishing off the outfit with lots of black eyeliner and red nails is the perfect touch in my opinion. I will definitely be trying to duplicate this outfit for my date this weekend.
Are you excited for the Deadpool movie?

2016 Movies Watch List - Part 1
Wednesday, 6 January 2016
In January I always pull up the 'Coming Soon' section on Tribute to look at the list of movies coming to theatres that year. I get really excited when I realize how soon movies that I've been looking forward to will be out or when a movie is listed that I didn't realize was finished production.
This year, I added all the movies I want to see in theatre to my planner. Why? So when I look at a month I can get excited knowing a movie date is in my future and also to plan some themed-baking projects. And let me tell you, there are a ton of good movies coming out in 2016.
These are the movies that top my 2016 list from January to July:
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
"In this wild reimagining of Jane Austen’s classic tale set in the 19th century, scrappy martial arts specialist Elizabeth Bennet and the very wealthy Mr. Darcy are true opposites — however, equally prideful and prejudiced.
"The origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life."
Let's be honest, what comic book fan isn't looking forward to this movie?! Ryan Reynolds seems to be the perfect person to play Deadpool. I just hope I won't be disappointed.

But in the face of an unknown and dangerous plague, the two must cast aside their different social classes in order to deal with their tangled romantic relationship — and fight off an army of undead zombies."
I've read the book and ever since I heard it was being made into a movie I've been excited for it. And it's finally coming out!

"Tensions rise between Steve Rogers and the other Avengers when global governments initiate an act to regulate all superhuman activity."
I'm very curious to see this movie. There are a ton of characters in this movie, some new and some from other Marvel movies, and I want to see how they fit them into the story line.
X-Men: Apocalypse
X-Men: Apocalypse
"As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven, with the help of Professor X, must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their nemesis, the villainous En Sabah Nur, aka Apocalypse."
It's no secret that I'm a big X-Men fan so I'm definitely looking forward to this movie and I'm especially interested in seeing how the new cast and characters work out.
"One year after her journey with Nemo, Dory is on an adventure to find her family. They are finally reunited but not after everyone learns a few things about the meaning of family from the adventure."

I think everyone who loved Finding Nemo has been patiently waiting for this movie to come out. Dory was one of the standout characters in Finding Nemo and I'm very excited to see this movie which follows Dory.
"Authors Erin Gilbert and Abby Yates write a book in which they claim that ghosts exist. A few years later, Erin lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University, but when her book resurfaces, she becomes a joke within the academic world.
That changes when ghosts invade Manhattan, and Erin and Abby reunite in order to get together a team to save the world."
I am SO excited for this movie! The fact that it's Ghostbusters, written and directed by Paul Feig and stars Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig makes me so incredibly hopeful that this movie will be amazing.
Just re-reading this list makes me super excited for all my future movie dates. What movies are you looking forward to?

Fangirl News
Wednesday, 15 July 2015
This past weekend was San Diego Comic Con and as usual so much news came out of that convention - trailers, casting announcements, and panels with movies and TV shows where details were spilled.
* A bunch of trailers were released over the weekend and the Deadpool trailer excited me the most. It looks like Ryan Reynolds did it - he's made a R-rated Deadpool movie and it makes me so happy! Now, my expectations have been set high for this movie so let's hope it doesn't disappoint!
* There was also a panel for X-Men: Apocalypse and they showed a trailer/clips put together from what they've filmed so far which made me fangirl when I watched it. Seeing a mohawk-sporting Storm, a bald James McAvoy, and hearing Magneto say 'who the fuck are you?' made me squee!
* 'Lumberjanes' won multiple Eisner awards, including 'Best New Series' and it just makes my heart swell. This series has become easily one of my favourites and I love how far it's come.
* Over the weekend, Paul Feig also tweeted a photo of the ladies in their Ghostbusters jumpsuits on set and now I need a jumpsuit so bad! Can I just cosplay as Melissa McCarthy's character for all cons?!? Jumpsuit, messy top bun and black glasses!
* Fan Expo Canada announced two Harry Potter guests this week - Tom Felton and Bonnie Wright have been added, so along with the Phelps twins there's a mini-Harry Potter reunion happening there and it makes me incredibly excited.
* It's funny this Harry Potter news came up this week because I also recently found out about Potterweek which Common Room has organized. It's a one week Harry Potter link up for blogs, podcasts, and all social media really. So now I just want to marathon the Harry Potter movies and come up with Harry Potter-themed treats.

It's been a fantastic week of geek news and it has started some very animated and intense conversations at home with Adam as we dissect movie trailers, discuss comic book news, and brainstorm Harry Potter treats.
I hope your week has been treating you well!
