Weekly Adventures

This past week has been a really busy one for IGGPPC... twitter, Facebook, and emails have blown up! Why? Because we're planning and organizing a Summer Camp!

I am SO excited for this! A big chunk of my childhood was spent at trailers that my family members owned. My summers were filled with bon fires, swimming, and catching fireflies. I miss campgrounds a lot. It's probably why I encourage my Dad to have a bon fire every time I visit my parents and it's also why I cannot wait to have a house to have my own fire pit!

There are a TON of activities, games, and webinars being planned for Summer Camp. Check out the post here which is being updated daily as we confirm things. It looks like I'll be helping organize a movie watch-a-long and I'll be covering s'mores recipes/info (are you shocked?!? haha).

We also opened up Round 15 this past Sunday, so if you're interested in signing up, click here. It's our last round until Summer Camp so we can use July to fine tune all our plans.

Recently, a couple of IGGPPC members did an interview for The Guardian, a U.K. newspaper. And the article is out today!

Life has been a whirlwind lately but I'm loving everything that's going on!

Mail Day

I've been reading blogs for a very, very long time. During college I started to read certain blogs regularly, so it's been about 10 years now! One of my favourite blogs that I've come across during my blog-reading years is Katie's, Hook, Line & Sink Her. I find Katie's posts incredibly entertaining, endearing, inspiring, and just plain awesome.

We did a sweets swap over a year ago which was incredibly fun. You can see all the treats here. Well we decided to do another swap back in the Winter. Surprisingly enough, we both received each other's parcels within a week of each other. You can see what I sent Katie this time in her post.

It felt like Christmas opening up Katie's parcel...

So there was the biggest, cutest, zippered reusable tote bag inside that I'm beyond excited to use for craft shows and at Christmas time to carry presents when we have to travel back to Hamilton.

Seymore adores climbing inside bags so I had to make sure to put the bag in a safe spot until I need to use it because he'll cover the bag in cat hair.

So many Rowntree's goodies! Alright, folks from the U.K., Rowntree's products are amazing! I'm in love with everything I've tried so far and jealous that I cannot regularly buy their treats. The Rip'ems that I received are so tasty! And why are your Starburst candies better?!? They're softer than the ones we get here. And, your lime flavoured ones are so perfect.

There was also adorable Little Red Riding Hood sticky memos, owl ribbon, adorable 'Snissues', and chai tea! Chai is my favourite tea and this one is so good! I've already used a few tea bags from the box.

Katie also sent me some of her magnetic letters to spell out mine and Adam's names. They're the perfect addition to our refrigerator!

Receiving amazing parcels like this just brighten my month. I'm already keeping a look out for other fun treats and gifts for future swaps! Thanks Katie <3

Mail Day

Not long ago I received a parcel in the mail from Emma! It was filled with so many adorable things! Seriously, I got a My Little Pony and a Batgirl figure, and stickers and postcards, and cute pouches! There was just so much amazingness!

"Some Days, I wish I was a Cat"... the perfect notebook for me!

And how cute is Emma's Spock design? I received a few postcards with this design.

A tea bag-shaped pouch?!? Amazing! And the Kissing Booth Tokens pouch is being carried with me everywhere in my purse.

Receiving such personal and wonderful parcels from the IGGPPC ladies, is just another reason I adore that community <3

Weekly Adventures

The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind for me. Before Christmas, we decided to launch a new site for the International Geek Girl Pen Pals Club. We wanted to move it over to Wordpress so we'd have more flexibility with it. Well we've been working day and night, all 5 of us and a few new staff members that joined in a week or so ago, on the design, moving over content, setting up bloggers, and just making the new site pretty! We launched the site last Saturday and it was a smooth transition!

You can check out the new site here. But one of the best things about the site is that we've added in achievements. We have achievement codes hidden throughout the site so when you find one, you can redeem the code for points. We've also included achievement points for things like 'first post', '10 replies', or participating in swaps and signing up for a pen pal round. It's been so much fun hiding them and having the members searching for them! It's become a bit of a competition with some of them haha.

We also launched Round 10 today to sign up for a pen pal, which you can sign up for here. I'm so ridiculously excited to see where IGGPPC takes us this year! 2013 was crazy fun and so exciting! With the new site being launched, a much better forum, more swaps, and extra staff to help, I can only imagine the things we can accomplish this year!

So during the Christmas season we set up a Holiday Card Swap on the site. Tons of ladies signed up and I'm astonished at how many cards I received!

We started a Valentines Swap this past weekend! If you're not a member, sign up to the site and join in! I'm so excited to go out and buy Valentines. I'm leaning towards the My Little Pony ones I keep seeing.

So all of this has been my life for the last two weeks and I'm so proud of it! Thanks for all the support!

Stationery Crush

Recently, I came across an Etsy shop with the cutest stationery - La Papierre! The Strawberry Shortcake letter set instantly won me over and I continued browsing through the shop falling in love with all the adorable designs. I'm a huge fan of the vintage-inspired graphics on the stationery and I love that some of the envelopes have designs on them as well.

You get to pick whatever combination of sheets of paper and envelopes you want and each letter set comes with a postcard and bookmark that matches the stationery set.

If you're a fan of snail mail, I definitely encourage you to check out La Papierre's Etsy shop
