Runs on Coffee and Cream

Back before Halloween I received a message from Sarah Jean, the sweet and adorable owner of Synapse to Synapse, asking for my address. Clearly this peaked my curiosity and I was excited to receive my surprise in the mail!

Not only was the envelope covered in awesomeness, but it was also filled with the best goodies!


How cute are the cupcake liners?! This little red-headed witch is going to be my inspiration for my Halloween costume next year!



I was in utter shock when I opened up the Synapse to Synapse box to find my very own cross stitch Wolverine necklace! It's so perfect and I love that it combines my love of X-Men and also crafting. I feel so special when I wear it!


I've worn the necklace a few times now and I tried taking some photos wearing it about a month ago and well, I'm still inexperienced with the whole taking photos of myself thing, so they didn't turn out too great. I enlisted Adam to help me with a couple of pictures last week so I could finally share this necklace!! I had to pull out my bright blue tank top and yellow cardigan for the photos because Wolverine's blue and yellow suit is my favourite!

I spend a lot of time in thrift stores looking for fabric, vintage toys, and used movies and books. I always check out the dresses and I have to admit that I haven't been too successful finding clothes at these places. Anything I like usually doesn't fit me. But back in October, I found a black silk dress on the rack and went back to it about 3 times before I finally decided to try it on. Well, I fell in love. It fit perfectly and it was so comfy and it was only $15! I cannot explain the love I have for this dress. It's a conservative length and flares away from my body so I feel good in it. I pretty much plan on wearing this dress to every function I attend.

The first function I wore it to was my cousin's wedding almost a month ago.




I paired the dress with nude pumps and a small black clutch. I completely forgot to bring any jewelry with me to Hamilton. I think in the future I'll be pairing a pretty necklace with the dress. We have another wedding to attend in January so we'll see how I accessorize since the weather will be very cold then.

I just love all the people and companies I've met and worked with through the International Geek Girl Pen Pals Club. Matt, from Insert Coin Clothing, is one of those people. Insert Coin is an awesome online shop filled with gaming-inspired clothing. We were sent t-shirts from Insert Coin a few months ago to do reviews on them. I absolutely loved mine! You can read about our t-shirts here. And then last month, I received a pair of Pac-Man leggings from Insert Coin. To say I was excited to receive my leggings is an understatement! Not only am I huge fan of leggings, but video game inspired leggings?! I'm in love! I'm going to wear these to every comic convention I attend next year!

I wore these to Hamilton when I went back for Thanksgiving and I received a ton of compliments. On my second wear, I had Adam take some pictures for me. This proved difficult since I have curious cats, it was FREEZING outside and our lighting is bad in our apartment.

So we tried taking photos in our brightest room...





Then we headed outside to our balcony...



We were being watched...





I paired the leggings with one of my favourite skirts from Old Navy, a thermal shirt that I've had for years (because it's so damn cold here!), and an American Eagle t-shirt. I wore my flats from Payless shoes to show off the leggings but when I wore them on Thanksgiving, I paired them with my tall black riding boots and I definitely felt pretty kick-ass.

These leggings are one of the comfiest pairs I own! I speak for girls with hips everywhere when I say, leggings that go over top of your hips comfortably and STAY on your waist without sliding down while you wear them are a treasure!
