Runs on Coffee and Cream

The 2016/2017 season for TV is over for most shows or they're wrapping up this month or next. Overall I enjoyed pretty much all the shows we stuck with. To be honest though, we didn't add many new shows to our list this year. Either they got cancelled quickly or we gave up on them.

My favourite show for this past season are:

1. Superstore


If you're not watching Superstore, you're definitely missing out. It's a fun comedy that just finished it's second season. I really enjoy the characters and the humour in the show. And if you've worked a retail job at some point in your life, this show will connect with you on an even more real level which is probably why I enjoy it so much. The second season finale was a great episode. It left so many things open and it should bring a lot of changes to season three.

2. Riverdale


Like most people who watch Riverdale, almost every episode has left me with a million new questions I need answered from the show. The drama, setting, characters, and story line are addictive. The season finale airs tomorrow night so I'm sure it'll leaving us all wanting more and in desperate need for season 2!

3. The Mindy Project


The Mindy Project has always been a favourite show of mine. I absolutely adore Mindy Kaling's writing and the character she portrays in the show. The last couple of seasons have been good but nothing that I was addicted to. However this past season has me laughing out loud and wanting to know what was happening in Mindy's life. Knowing that the next season is the final season actually has me excited. I can't wait to see how they wrap things up, how Mindy will evolve and who will live happily ever after together.

4. iZombie


I know iZombie is still airing and only mid-way through their season, but as usual, this season is killing it. The story has really developed this year and brought more intrigue into the zombie story line. The characters are also doing an amazing job at pulling at my heart strings. There's been so much emotion happening already. I'm pretty excited to see how this season continues to develop.

With Toronto Comicon next weekend I've been spending any free time I have watching TV (while ironing finished sewing projects or filling cat toys) or squeezing in some Pokemon.

Pokemon Y

I haven't just been playing Pokemon Go lately. I picked up Pokemon Y a couple of weeks ago and I want to play it all the time! I'm doing everything I can to finish up my to-do lists quickly each day so I can snuggle on the couch with kitties and play some Pokemon. I have a feeling I'll be picking up some of the other Pokemon 3DS games because the addiction is strong.

Over the last few months I've been reading a lot of the same comic book titles which has been enjoyable since there are some really great comics out there right now. Recently I decided to check out a couple of new-to-me comics that I ended up really liking.

Archie
"Change is coming to Riverdale in this all-new reimagining of an American icon! Familiar faces return in new and unexpected ways. As the new school year approaches, you'd think Archie Andrews would be looking forward to classes and fun -- but nothing is as it seems in the little town of Riverdale. But is this a one-off or a sign of bigger changes awaiting for America's favorite teens -- and the entire town?"

Archie is definitely not new to comics. He's easily one of the longest running comic titles. But when they decided to bring out a new fresh look for Archie, I was intrigued. Not until recently did I actually pick up the first trade to read. The updated story and art style is fun and I'm really enjoying it. I plan on sticking with this series and catching up, as well as checking out the new Jughead and Betty and Veronica titles too.

Spell on Wheels
"Three young witches are robbed of their magical items, and they'll have to hit the road to track down the mysterious thief before he does any damage to, or with, their possessions. Supernatural meets Buffy and The Craft!"

When I heard of this series I knew I had to read it. The fact that it was being compared to Supernatural, Buffy, and The Craft, plus Kate Leth is part of the team behind it, makes it an instant read for me. I've read the first 3 issues and it does not disappoint. The 3 main characters are awesome and I want to be friends with them. I'd love to see this series continue on.

As we come to the end of 2016, I'm getting excited for new releases coming out next year in 2017.

1. The official trailer for Riverdale on CW was released last week. This is the TV show based on the Archie comics. It looks dark and full of drama and I'm so excited to see how the show is. You can watch the trailer below.


2. Funko announced a Winnie the Pooh line of Pop! Vinyls and I'm squeeing over the Eeyore one!


3. The teaser trailers being released for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 have me so pumped for the movie to come out next year. And look how cute Baby Groot is!!


What are you excited for in 2017?

As usual, once September sneaks up on me I hop on the computer and look up all the new television shows that will be airing this Fall season. I watch trailers and read synopses and then make a list of the new shows with their premiere dates that I plan on checking out.

These are the new shows I'll be checking out this Fall season:


Conviction 

"A brilliant young attorney (Hayley Atwell), who is also the daughter of a former U.S. president, is blackmailed to head up NYC's new Conviction Integrity Unit. She and her team investigate cases where people may have been wrongly convicted."

The synopsis of this show is fairly typical and nothing too out of the ordinary. But it's the cast that makes me want to watch it. I'll pretty much watch anything Hayley Atwell is in.

The Good Place

"The Good Place, is a town where those who have been good throughout their life go to once they have passed away. Michael (Danson) is the architect who oversees the town. Eleanor (Bell) arrives at the Good Place and realizes she doesn't deserve to be there. With the help of Michael, Eleanor seeks to right her wrongs seeking to finally earn her place at the Good Place."

This show actually has a different story line but of course the fact that Kristen Bell stars in it, and gets to be sarcastic and funny, has me sold on this show.

Riverdale

"A subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small town life - the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale's wholesome facade."

This show doesn't have a premiere date yet but I definitely need to watch it. A dark and weird Riverdale sounds like it could be amazing.


Powerless

"Shows how an insurance company deals with destruction left by DC Superheros."

This is another show without a premiere date yet so I have to impatiently wait to see it. The show premise sounds like a lot of fun and the cast is pretty great too.

Good Girls Revolt

"A look at the personal and professional lives of employees at an American news magazine in the late 1960s."

The storyline sounds interesting and I'm a sucker for all things retro.

Timeless

"An unlikely trio traveling through time to battle unknown criminals in order to protect history as we know it."

Timeless sounds like it could be fun since the premise is exciting. We'll just see how the acting holds up. I've been skeptical of  sci-fi shows since last year's super disappointing Minority Report.
