Honeymoon

For our honeymoon we went to an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I've never been anywhere outside of North America so it was an adventure for me. The flight was rough for me both ways - I guess I'm highly susceptible to motion sickness so I was forced to move as little as possible.

It was so incredibly hot there so we lived in the pool and ocean. If I wasn't swimming I was reading or napping in the shade. It was definitely a relaxing week for us.

This was the only crab we saw.

I would definitely consider going to another all-inclusive resort again, though, I'd try a different island.

This weekend we're headed on another little adventure... camping up north. It should be a fun and interesting weekend! I cannot wait for campfires, s'mores, and fishing!

Have a great weekend!

San Diego Comic Con

It's not what you're thinking... no I didn't attend Comic Con this year. I wish I did and I hope to attend in a couple of years. So I've spent a good chunk of my weekend reading SDCC coverage and looking at cosplay pictures.

I found some of the panels pretty funny and interesting (Big Bang Theory's was hilarious!). Reading about the Fables panel was also really interesting since the Fables storyline is so intertwined and full of amazing characters. Reading the SDCC coverage has definitely got me hyped up for Fan Expo Canada.

Some of the coverage that interested me:

- In Fall 2012, Capcom, specifically Street Fighter, will be doing a crossover with Hello Kitty. There will be Street Fighter-themed Hello Kitty merchandise.... I'm not going to lie, as weird as this crossover is I'm pretty excited to see Hello Kitty dressed as Chun Li!

- A new Fables spinoff will be coming out in early 2012 called 'Fairest' - which will tell the stories of the ladies of Fables. Rapunzul in Japan?? Yes, please! I'm excited to get my hands on this.

- Reading about Marvel's new television shows was interesting. I can't say I'm too interested in watching the animated shows, but the live-action shows definitely peak my interest, mainly Mockingbird. They described it as “Alias meets Felicity." You cannot go wrong there.

-Reading about any news surrounding The Avengers was pretty exciting. The concept art and posters released are pretty awesome. I have to admit I completely geeked out when I saw The Avengers trailer after Captain America this weekend. It was so quick and doesn't show much but I loved seeing all of them together!

Hopefully I'll be able to get some work done tomorrow since I've been so caught up reading the coverage.

Night!

Inspiration

I haven't done a craft show in months now because of being preoccupied with the wedding planning. My last show was Wizard Comic Con in March. Fan Expo Canada is next month though. So I've been crazy busy sewing and getting projects ready for my first show in 5 months. It's the biggest show of the year that I do and it's 4 days this year so I have to have a lot of stock ready.

Tonight we're having a craft night to get some prep work done for Fan Expo. It should be a great, creative night. Hanging out with these great ladies, Needlings and Lisa, is always inspiring.

I've been finding inspiration in everything around me lately. Our hot, summer days have been pretty hard to get through, but the sunshine in the evenings is beautiful. And my hair faded so much on our honeymoon that I'm excited to dye it a brand new shade of red. I think I've finally decided on which shade. It's exciting changing up the colour.

Craft night should be starting soon...

Current Obsessions

The weather has been incredibly hot over the last couple of weeks here. It's actually making it hard to enjoy the summer. So we've been living off slurpees, homemade iced tea, and popsicles. Unfortunately, we're spending most of our evenings and weekends locked inside with the A/C on.

We re-watched the last 4 Harry Potter movies in preparation for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 coming out, which we saw on opening night. I thought the new movie was great. I enjoyed all of it and I was brought to tears twice. I cannot believe it's over but I will definitely be seeing the movie again in the theatre and then I'll have to plan a Harry Potter marathon once the movie comes out on dvd. Watching the movies and playing Lego Harry Potter makes me want to read the books again. I will one day, maybe once I get through the huge stack of X-men comics we have.

My other obsessions currently are picking up local fruit whenever I can. Coming home from work I drive through Vineland which has numerous fruit and vegetable stands and local markets along the main road. We stopped for cherries recently but today I saw a sign for raspberries. I'll have to go soon because I want raspberry pie!

And then there's my niece... Every time I see her she steals all my attention. She's at the perfect stage where all she does is smiles and giggles. She amuses herself most of the time and the other time she just stares at you. I may be a little biased, but she's the most beautiful baby I've ever seen.

Jaelin

I have a busy week ahead and then a weekend full of sewing! Hopefully we all make it through this heatwave.

A New Beginning

Life has been full of changes this past year. We moved to Welland almost a year ago which has been quite the adventure full of job hunting, lots of trips to Niagara Falls, and a whole lot of walking down the paths surrounding the Welland Canal.

Then there was the engagement, 8 months of wedding planning, the wedding, and finally our honeymoon. We're still waiting on getting our wedding photos but we've been given a few sneak peeks. We ended up at the Punch Bowl Country Market in Hamilton for our photos. If you've never been I highly recommend checking it out. It's beautiful and the market is full of flowers, fruits, and amazing baked goods!

Wedding Sneak Peek

Wedding Sneak Peek

Now that the wedding is over and life is starting to get back to it's regular routine I've been focused on the summer and the events coming up. I just had my birthday last week and it hit me pretty hard that life is definitely not slowing down. I got some amazing gifts, including a Fuji Instax!! I'm in love with it and I'm going to end up spending a small fortune on film! Oh and I've become addicted to Lego Harry Potter which was a gift from the hubby. Between that game and see Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2, I've become slightly obsessed with Harry Potter yet again. I was also lucky enough to have my husband make me a custom cake. I asked for raspberry and coconut and he made a cake that tastes like a giant jelly roll - yum!

I'm on a inspirational and creative high lately. I guess that's a good thing since Fan Expo Canada is next month and I need stock for 4 days! I've been sewing constantly and cutting out projects. I'm so excited to finally get things moving again.

Well, it's late and it's back to work tomorrow. These weekends are definitely not long enough...
