Crafty Updates

With my first comic convention around the corner (in March! Eeeee!), I've been sewing regularly and buying a lot of new fabric.... like, a LOT of new fabric.

This is a glimpse of some of the new designs I've picked up.

I've been trying to use up scraps that I have all over my craft room for pouches and cat toys. At this point, I almost need to order more zippers. I sold so many pouches last year and I have some major restocking to do.

I've been playing around with new pouch designs as well. This is my first try at a new style. I like it, but there's a couple of things I want to change when I make another one.

I also spent an afternoon recently taking photos of pillowcases to add to my Etsy shop. So keep an eye on my shop for more updates!

Next up is to start making bags with some new fabric and sheets. I'll be sure to share photos over on Instagram and Facebook

I hope you're having a great weekend!

Ms Marvel

Happy Halloween! I don't have much planned for Halloween. I'll be handing out candy to trick or treaters this evening while I watch Hocus Pocus and play Animal Crossing. Fun, right? Then I have a date with Adam, some horror movies, and leftover Halloween candy later tonight. I'm actually looking forward to my Halloween night.

Now, if I was feeling the motivation to dress up tonight or even to find an everyday cosplay look, Ms Marvel aka Kamala Khan would be one of my top picks to dress up as.

Once you have a Ms Marvel t-shirt, putting together the rest of the look would be pretty straight forward. Red pants for the adventurous, or skinny blue jeans for the rest of us, blue boots, a red scarf and any lightning bolt accessories you can find. To top it off I added a blue headband to represent her blue mask. Though, I'd probably go all out and dig out my blue eyeshadow.

I've really been enjoying the Ms Marvel comics. Kamala's innocence is so nice to see in a superhero. So far she doesn't seem jaded. She just wants to make a difference and help people. The writing includes a lot of humour and fun pop culture references. Kamala has definitely become one of my favourite heroes.

Have a fun and safe Halloween!

Spring Movie Watch List

It's pretty normal for the Summer months to be filled with big, blockbuster movies here. There's usually a few movies that come out every month during the Summer months that I really want to see. But 2014 seems to be all about Spring. I mean, there's still some great movies coming out this Summer. But since Veronica Mars came out a couple of weeks ago, there's a steady stream of new movies coming out throughout the Spring that I really want to see.

The first two movies in my list, Veronica Mars and Divergent, have already been seen! I enjoyed both movies but Veronica Mars has started the 2014 movie season off strong since it was such an amazing movie.

Here are the movies I'm looking forward to this Spring:

March 14th - Veronica Mars The Movie

March 21st - Divergent
April 4th - Captain America: The Winter Soldier
May 2nd - The Amazing Spider-Man 2

May 23rd - X-Men: Days of Future Past

June 6th - The Fault in Our Stars
June 13th - How To Train Your Dragon 2

What movies are you looking forward to seeing? I'm excited already for all my movie theatre visits over the next few months.

Fabric Addiction

I started sewing about 6 years ago and since then I've had a crazy addiction to fabric and patterns. I could spend all my paypal earnings in etsy fabric sellers' shops and I pick up every sheet and fabric that looks like it's from the 60s or 70s that I find. A few years back my obsession with buying vintage, second-hand sheets hit me hard... sheets from my childhood, sheets my brothers had, sheets I wish I had. I currently have an overflowing, bursting at the seams book shelf full of fabrics. I can't pass anything up, especially the vintage, second-hand items, because you never know if you'll find it again.

I recently went across the border for shopping so I had to hit up Jo-anns for some character fabric. It's hard to find them in Canada.

Lately, I've been hitting the jackpot finding sheets as well!

Once Christmas is over I have to start sewing like crazy... I want to start building my inventory for the 2 large comic conventions I do in the Spring and Summer. I'm so excited to start fresh in 2012 and really push myself in my sewing.
