Halloween weekend was fun since we had a costume party to attend. We're so bad coming up with costume ideas. We always have been. Our problem is we don't like spending a ton of money and we also don't have a lot of free time to make or come up with cheaper ideas. But after some brainstorming we both came up with some fairly easy costumes.
After realizing I could wear my own glasses with a Where's Waldo costume, I went on a hunt for a striped shirt. Surprisingly I found one quickly and on sale. So that was me done. Adam decided to be Ash (from Evil Dead) without the chainsaw hand. Though I insisted he find a Boomstick which we found at a dollar store. I'm happy with how easily our costumes came together. They weren't super original or completely authentic, but I think they're pretty darn good considering how much time and money we spent on them.
Our yearly Halloween tradition is to carve pumpkins which we did Sunday night after watching the original Halloween movie. Adam picked a super complicated design but it was worth it. Bowser looks amazing. Mine is a little more basic considering I needed some help with the carving and used my left hand when I could.
I'm a little sad the fall season is over here. Leaves are gone from the trees, pumpkin decorations are on clearance, and the chance of snow is high. But that also means I'm allowed to embrace the Christmas season fully.... so I apologize in advance if you follow me on any social media. Be prepared for Christmas everything!

Halloween Things
Wednesday, 21 October 2015
Halloween is around the corner and I'm getting into the Halloween mood! Between TV shows, video games, movies, and activities, Halloween is everywhere.
TV
The Walking Dead, iZombie, Scream Queens - All these shows have a horror genre theme. Watching their new episodes every week makes October feel extra spooky and a bit campy.
Video Games
Left 4 Dead - Adam and I started Left 4 Dead recently and it's so much fun. Also, a little creepy too. At one point in a campaign, I turned my character around really quickly and found myself face to face with a zombie. Well, a scream escaped my mouth and Adam couldn't stop making fun of me.
Movies
Scream 4, The Shining - We buy a lot of second-hand movies from the Hock Shop here. We picked up these movies and figured we'd watch them this month to fit with the Halloween theme.
Activities
24 Hour Halloween Party - Over at IGGPPC we're hosting another Halloween party! We're in the midst of organizing activities and blog posts. I'm very excited for everything. I'll of course be planning a yummy Halloween treat for it.
Pumpkin Carving - We picked up a couple of pumpkins yesterday which means we'll be carving them soon. It's been a tradition every since we started dating and now that we have a house, it's nice to keep them out front and light them on Halloween night.
Do you have any fun plans for Halloween or leading up to the big night?

Halloween
Saturday, 1 November 2014
I know it's a day late, but Happy Halloween! I hope you had a great day. It was an interesting day here because we had our first snowfall of the season. I woke up early to be at work for 6 a.m. yesterday morning and there was already quite a bit of snow accumulation but it just kept snowing. By the time I got home from work me and Adam had to shovel our driveway and walkway so children could get to our front door.
We carved pumpkins the other evening and I put them out once the snow was cleared from the front step.
I spent the evening in watching Ghostbusters, playing Disney Tsum Tsum, and hanging out with cats while I gave out candy. It was a relaxing evening in and a decent amount of kids came by.
Since we weren't going to a party, I didn't put together a costume this year. However, a closet costume contest was planned for the IGGPPC Halloween Party. I decided to dress as April from Lumberjanes since I could put together a similar outfit from my closet.
I spent some time today buying clearance Halloween candy for me and Adam and also taking down all the Halloween decorations. It's been a fun week watching Halloween movies, dressing up, and carving pumpkins. But let's be honest, I'm beyond excited to get into Christmas-mode!

Our front door before, with our Jack-o-lantern bags filled with leaves.
And after, when the snow was starting to slow down mid-afternoon yesterday. I did my best to wipe the snow off the pumpkins.

Autumn Around The House
Wednesday, 1 October 2014
One of the things I kept getting excited about when we bought our house, was the fact that I could decorate for all the holidays. Yes, I already did in our apartment but it was such a small space and I only had a small amount of decorations. Since Autumn and Halloween things have popped up in stores, I've been ogling over it all! Honestly, I haven't bought as much as I'd like. But I'm cheap and I know all the decorations will go on sale and clearance close to Halloween or right afterwards so my plan is to stock up then so I'm completely prepared for next year.
So currently the Autumn decorations are a little light for my taste in our house. But I still love the cozy atmosphere the few that we have out provide.
This glass pumpkin was picked up last year but I did buy these two Autumn-scented candles from Bath and Body Works recently to make our house smell amazing. They were by far my favourite scents in the store.
I just love this pumpkin! It's from Target and there's a matching, taller one that I need to pick up when it goes on sale!
During a visit to Michael's Craft Store, I bought a cheap Fall garland kit to thread and hang up. I'm not entirely sold on the blue leaves, but it's cute for $4. You can also see the Fall leaves wreath I made last year hanging up.
I came home with a pot of Mums during a shopping trip a couple weeks ago. I fell in love with the colour and so far they're doing great beside our front door.
I'll be adding some Halloween items over the next couple of weeks to get ready for handing candy out.
Do you decorate for the holidays?
