Life Inspiration

This was a really great weekend. I worked Friday and today but Saturday was spent all day with Adam. It was such a great day... we spent the morning going to garage sales, we went to the Welland Farmer's Market, watched a movie, then we went for a walk after a great dinner. It's days like that which fill me with happiness and inspiration to make the most out of life.

My Life in Photos

April has been a very busy month for me. We've been able to squeeze in a couple of walks but not as many as I'd like. It doesn't help that we've had rain or wet snow almost every day over the last week.

Birthday Cake Tea
I ordered a couple of teas from David's Tea earlier last week. I bought 'Birthday Cake' and 'Jolly Jellybean'. They are soooo good! I cannot wait to place another order on the site and get a couple more flavours.

The Birthday Cake tea actually has sprinkles in it!

Chocolate Mint Cake
Last weekend, we celebrated Adam's birthday. We went out for dinner and then had a relaxing night at home. I made him a chocolate-mint cake which tasted amazing! I put crushed mint Oreos on top of the cake. It was very decadent.

I have the day off tomorrow so we're spending the morning hitting up garage sales. I'm pretty excited!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Kitty Love

Just a quick post tonight. Work has been pretty busy for me and recent plans with friends and family have taken up a lot of free time.

The weather has been all over the place here. We finally had a sunny and somewhat warm day today. We spent the day shopping and running errands. Tonight was a relaxing evening in. We watched Beauty and the Beast with dinner and then I've been hanging out with the kitties while watching Bones.

Spring To-Do List

As Adam goes for more testing for potential jobs, it becomes more of a reality that we're more than likely moving this Spring or Summer. And this move won't be to anywhere in Southern Ontario. We'll be heading at least 6 hours away or further. This has got us talking about things we want to do or places we want to go while we're still living in the Niagara region. Our family and friends live in Hamilton so of course we'll be back this way loads of times every year, but there's some things we want to do again with just the two of us.

We've come up with a basic list so far....
* spend the day in Niagara Falls (we're only 20 minutes away from there now)
* spend an evening at Starlite Drive-in to watch a couple of movies
* go for a hike at a bunch of places - King's forest, Dundas Valley, Ball's Falls
* have a picnic
* go fishing at the canal
* spend a Sunday at Aberfoyle flea market
* eat dinner at the Arbor in Port Dover

Time is just flying by right now and I'm so excited to see where life takes us next. I just want to make a point of not taking any day for granted. I want to see and do as much as I can before we head on to the next chapter in our life.

Changing Seasons means changing my hair?

It's that time of year where we can have a really warm, sunny day where you can get away with shorts or a dress without tights. But we also have days that can have a cool breeze and unless you stand in direct sunlight, you definitely need a sweater.

This is also the time of year where I question my hair (yes, every single year). I have difficult hair in my opinion... it's not straight, but not curly. It's insanely thick so blow drying it can take forever (hair stylists comment on this fact every time I get a haircut) and it likes to frizz out when it's raining or when it's too warm. This tends to be the time of year I cut my hair because having hair below my shoulders is like wrapping a blanket around my neck and shoulders on a hot day. On the other hand, I also hate having my hair up in a ponytail every day. With the weight of my hair, I usually have to use 2 elastics to keep the ponytail from slowly falling 'down' the back of my head.

This is definitely one of my silly, girl posts, but this is something that nags at me for a couple of months every year until I make a decision to let my hair grow or cut it off. I need to rant!

I adore long, wavy hair, and thick bangs. I would love to have hair like any of these gorgeous ladies.

But, the reality is, I don't have a hair stylist to style my hair whenever I want, I'm exposed to the weather daily and don't just sit around in air conditioning on warm days, and I have minimal time to get ready most mornings.

Ugh.

I'm always tempted to do this:

But, it took 2 years of growing my hair to get the length I'm at today.

Sorry for the silly rant... I will eventually make up my mind. We'll see how much I hate my hair on the warm days to come.

Have a great weekend!

Etsy Crush

At Wizard World Toronto last weekend, Adam informed me I had to go check out a table in Artist Alley. He had snapped a quick picture of the table on his phone to show me why.... My Little Pony perler bead creations! I quickly headed to the table to see them. So I've seen perler bead art before but the detail that was put into these pieces was amazing! And I couldn't get over all the ponies! I'm actually a little disappointed I didn't buy myself one at the show. But once I grabbed the business card and saw there was an Etsy shop listed, I thought using some of my paypal money to buy myself something might be a better option for me.

Amy Williams, who is behind Cheshire Grynne, is the creator of these amazing perler bead pieces! At the show there were both keychains and magnets available and both options are available in her Etsy shop as well.

There are no My Little Pony items in her shop yet but once they are, I need to get my hands on one... or all of them!

Check our her Etsy shop and Facebook page for more of her amazing art!

Wizard World Toronto

This past weekend was Wizard World Toronto. It was a really great weekend! The convention was definitely busier this year than last year. I really liked the floor set-up this year as well. It was nice that Artist Alley took over such a large part of the floor, from one side of the room to the other and to get to the celebrities you had to walk through Artist Alley.

It was so nice meeting new people and also meeting some Twitter 'friends'. It was definitely a rewarding show for me. I received some great feedback on my products and once again I was told by a few people, who bought cat toys from me on Saturday, that their cats loved my kitty kickers! I love making kitties happy all over Southern Ontario! And once I post them on Etsy, I can make kitties all over the world happy!

It was such a fun weekend and it always makes going back to work on Monday such a disappointment. It sucks coming back to reality. Now, I have Fan Expo to prepare for. It's such a huge event and it's 4 days! I'm very thankful I have a lot of time to work on inventory for that convention.

I was pretty happy to have Adam come to the convention with me all weekend. We spent most of our time discussing which comics to pick up next and our game plan for Free Comic Book Day. Oh, and what Pop Vinyl figures he needs to buy me!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Wizard World this Weekend!

I've been very busy over the last month since Toronto ComiCon. I've had to replenish my stock for Wizard World Toronto. It's crazy how much I got finished up. I have more inventory for this show than I did for the last one. I'm so excited to spend this weekend surrounded by comics and cosplay and anime and amazingly talented people. I can't wait to buy some toys and take lots of pictures!

There are 43 pouches in that basket!

Sorry for all the Instagram photos, but I haven't taken many photos of my finished products with my camera. That will be happening after this weekend, when I'm doing the biggest update I have ever done on Etsy!

I hope everyone's week is going well!

Easter Follow-Up

Easter weekend was pretty uneventful for me. Between sewing and working on Saturday, I didn't do much. On Sunday, me and Adam spent the day doing our income tax and going for a long walk. I made us pork tenderloin for dinner and apple crisp for dessert so it was a nice ending to our day together.

My Mom held Easter dinner last week so it was the perfect excuse to make Easter cupcakes - Carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. I also made Adam some white chocolate coconut cookies on the weekend.

It was so windy on Sunday. It was a good thing I had leggings on under my dress. I would have mooned numerous ducks.
