Changing Seasons means changing my hair?

It's that time of year where we can have a really warm, sunny day where you can get away with shorts or a dress without tights. But we also have days that can have a cool breeze and unless you stand in direct sunlight, you definitely need a sweater.

This is also the time of year where I question my hair (yes, every single year). I have difficult hair in my opinion... it's not straight, but not curly. It's insanely thick so blow drying it can take forever (hair stylists comment on this fact every time I get a haircut) and it likes to frizz out when it's raining or when it's too warm. This tends to be the time of year I cut my hair because having hair below my shoulders is like wrapping a blanket around my neck and shoulders on a hot day. On the other hand, I also hate having my hair up in a ponytail every day. With the weight of my hair, I usually have to use 2 elastics to keep the ponytail from slowly falling 'down' the back of my head.

This is definitely one of my silly, girl posts, but this is something that nags at me for a couple of months every year until I make a decision to let my hair grow or cut it off. I need to rant!

I adore long, wavy hair, and thick bangs. I would love to have hair like any of these gorgeous ladies.

But, the reality is, I don't have a hair stylist to style my hair whenever I want, I'm exposed to the weather daily and don't just sit around in air conditioning on warm days, and I have minimal time to get ready most mornings.

I'm always tempted to do this:

But, it took 2 years of growing my hair to get the length I'm at today.

Sorry for the silly rant... I will eventually make up my mind. We'll see how much I hate my hair on the warm days to come.

Have a great weekend!

  1. I cut my hair about three years ago, and had to let it grow out, and did the same last January, just for time purposes...I don't like having to grow my hair out, although my curls stay in better the shorter it is! (Such a dilemma as well.)

I say, stay long and learn some cool braids, like the herringbone! :D

    1. I'm such a spaz with doing braids on myself. But, maybe with some practice I will be able to handle my long hair this summer!

  2. Wow! You just totally described my hair and it bugs me too! I've been growing it for a while and just really don't know what to do with it now. I think it's the longest I've had it since, um, I was 13?!? And as a mom of two toddlers I have absolutely no time for styling and have fallen into the "pony-tail-every-day" trap..... Sigh. So what do we do?

    1. It's nice to know someone else has hair like me and is lost with what to do with it... I go back and forth everyday on what to do with it. So far I'm not cutting it but once the heat hits it could be a different story.

  3. Your hair sounds amazing - so luscious and thick!

I bet bangs would look really great on you. Only you do have to keep cutting them... I am about to take the plunge and start cutting my own, otherwise there are just too many trips to the hairdresser!

    1. Well thank you! I've had bangs before but it's hard to deal with them in the hot summer. But everytime I see someone with thick bangs it gives me the urge to cut mine again.
