Life Lately

It's been a while since I sat down and wrote anything. September is in full swing and it feels like fall is around the corner. The weather has cooled significantly and the stores are filled with all things pumpkin.

The summer flew by with visits to Hamilton and having company come up to stay with us. It was an exceptionally hot summer. There were heat warnings almost weekly. So both Emma and myself spent a lot of days in light cotton, bare minimal clothing while we hung out at home. I didn't want to overheat her and because she's still too young for sunscreen, we can only spend so much time at the beach.

I originally thought we'd spend a ton of time outside this summer. It was the first summer with Emma and the first summer in this house. I had fantasies of kiddie pools and dinners at a patio table. But again, too hot and Emma is still too young for sunscreen and to sit by herself. We still had fun though and spent some time outside in small intervals.

If anything, I felt like I had gotten into quite the routine and flow with Emma. Things felt 'easy' the past couple of months, if you will. But this month has brought on a new challenge... it's time to introduce her to solid foods. So far it's been a fun process but I feel like I'm doing way more research than I should have to about foods and purees and recipes, etc. Once we have her 6 month check up, I'm hoping to feel better when I can ask the doctor some questions.

As usual I've embraced fall with open arms. A break from the heat plus pumpkin spice lattes make fall such a lovely welcome.

I've been busy baking pumpkin things already and I've had more pumpkin spice lattes than I care to count (I'm making up for last year when I was pregnant...). It's our first fall with Emma but what do you do with a 6-8 month old in the fall? She's too young for pumpkin picking and to eat a Thanksgiving meal. Besides dressing her up for Halloween and some fall walks, I can't think of anything else we can do as a family for the fall season.

I'll be sure to share my successful pumpkin recipes on here. And if you don't follow me on Instagram already, you can see random pics of cats and babies and sweets @sparklegirljen since I post more regularly on there.

Have a great day!

Etsy Crush

A while back on Instagram I came across an amazing account. It was full of cat pictures and their Etsy shop product pictures. My Cat is People is a great Instagram feed and their Etsy shop has become a favourite of mine. Their pins and shirt designs are so adorable. These are just a few of my favourite items from their Etsy.

What I'm Loving Now

Lately I have found myself feeling more creative and wanting to make everything! I believe it's from all the sunshine and nice weather we've been having. My urge to create includes baking cupcakes, cakes, and cookies too.

Heaven's Sweetness Shop

I came across the most amazing Instagram account while scrolling aimlessly one morning in bed. There are so many videos of decorating cake tutorials and it makes me want to pull out all my frosting tips and start decorating! If you have any interest in cake decorating, head to their Instagram account now and be prepared to get sucked in.

Craft Room

I recently hit up the dollar store to buy bins of all sizes to organize my craft room. I've accumulated a lot of random things that have nothing to do with my sewing - perler beads, stickers galore, and tons of postcards and notecards thanks to IGGPPC. We still need to paint the room and put up shelves but it's already looking a lot more organized and it's ready for me to go crazy sewing while I get ready for two big comic conventions this Summer. I'm so happy I'm back to wanting to spend most of my time at home in there.

What are you loving now?

Busy as a Bee...

Oh how quickly this week has gone by. It was a busy and stressful week at work, but inventory is finally over! This past week I also applied for a table at Toronto Comicon. I have good faith that this show will be busy and a lot of fun. It's the same company that puts on Fan Expo so I feel like I can't go wrong. Plus, the guest list is looking pretty good too! The only downfall? If I get in, I will have a comic convention in both March and April... eeekk! I have to get my butt in gear! So, even with my daytime job being busy, I've been cutting, ironing, and sewing up totes and pillows all week.

Sorry for the instagram photos but I haven't had a chance to upload any photos from my camera lately.

Totes ready to be sewn up this weekend!
First set of totes!

Pillows waiting for their stuffing.
Pillows waiting for stuffing... which I need to go buy...

Next set of totes ready to be ironed and sewed.
Next batch of totes cut out tonight!

Finally home from work. Comic con prep time now!
It looks like it'll be another busy year!
