My Life In Photos

It is now officially Spring, though, Mother Nature hasn't received the notice yet. Yes, we've had some sunny and above zero degrees weather but there's still a lot of snow and it gets quite cold overnight still.

Winter seemed to go by quick this year for me. We didn't get in all the Winter activities we wanted to do either. But we did get in some more ice skating on Ramsey Lake. And on a sunny day too.

I feel like I baked a lot of goodies over the last couple of months. These cookies were delicious since they were double chip cookies.

I also finally got a hair trim (it's been months....) and the hairdresser used a wand on me to make curls. I loved it and need to buy one!

To Do List: February

February is a short month. It's also the last month of official Winter in my eyes. Yes, moving North means Winter sticks around longer. But March can be hit or miss. Sometimes you get a stretch of mild days that melts a bit of snow. This means I need to fit in Winter activities over the next month in case Spring shows up sooner than we expect.

From our last ice skating adventure in January:

Science North

It's crazy this is Ramsey lake... just covered in ice and snow.

I'm predicting February to be a fast month. There's IGGPPC things happening (bake-alongs, themed recipes to be made, challenges to participate in, etc.), a Valentine date night, and sewing!

I'm not going to lie and say I'm not excited for Spring and more sunshine! But I definitely want to take advantage of all the snow and ice before it disappears!

February To Do List:
- more ice skating
- snow shoeing
- keep up with yoga
- sew as much as possible and keep Etsy updated

My motto leading up to conventions... which is why I need to force myself to go outside sometimes!

Do you have anything fun planned for this month?

Outside Adventures

We finally made it out to Ramsey Lake to do some ice skating. They only have the pathway open during certain times of the day so we were having a hard time scheduling in a visit. It was the perfect day to go though. It wasn't ridiculously cold, though we did go as the sun was slowly disappearing as dinner time approached.

It was pretty crazy to walk onto the ice because I spent so much time here over the summer when you could go swimming! It was weird to be so far out from the boardwalk.

Science North is in the distance here.

I also didn't expect to see so many Ice Fishing huts on the lake. This one was the closest to the skating path.

This is the marina covered in snow and ice. I wanted to take my skates off and go walking through all the snow on the lake but some areas were blocked off and I didn't want to take any chances.

It was so much fun going skating on the lake. I really hope we can squeeze in at least one more visit before they close it due to thawing. But with the freezing cold temperatures we've had this week, I don't think it'll be happening any time soon.

Outside Adventures

Growing up I took figure skating lessons. I did it for years and really enjoyed it. Since then, I've skated on and off at public ice rinks and it's crazy how quickly and easily I remember how to skate. And now we live in a city that is full of outdoor skating rinks. You can skate on the lakes or on one of the man-made rinks. We checked out a track that they flooded to make into an ice rink a couple of weeks ago. I was nervous about skating after not doing it in years. But I quickly got into the rhythm and not once did I fall.

Our next ice skating adventure will be on Ramsey Lake. I've never skated on top of a body of water so I'm excited to head out on the lake!

Recently we also took a walk through Nickeldale Conservation Area. The walk started off with me trying to climb through 2 feet of snow to get to the trail. I lost my footing and fell into the snow bank. And then I couldn't get up because I was laughing so hard. Anyways, it was a great walk. The snow's incredibly deep throughout the conservation area now. But there are snowmobile tracks everywhere which luckily packed down some of the snow so we had a fairly stable path to walk along. Though, we did have our feet fall through the path a few times and we'd almost fall over.

A part of the path takes you behind a cemetery. It looked incredibly beautiful covered in snow.

The only wild life we saw... a gorgeous bird trying to blend into its surroundings.

February is more than half over which means we don't have much more of Winter left. There's still a couple of outdoor adventures I want to go on before the snow disappears. So I have some planning to do!

Have you been on any outside adventures recently?
