What I'm Loving Now: Books

I haven't been reading as much as I'd like to lately. I'm too tired at night and I find myself falling asleep in the middle of sentences. But I have been able to squeeze in a few audiobooks over the last month.

The Nest by Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney

"A warm, funny and acutely perceptive debut novel about four adult siblings and the fate of the shared inheritance that has shaped their choices and their lives."

The reason I picked up this book was because I kept seeing it everywhere. It was in every email I received about bestsellers and top books of the summer. Also, let's be honest, the cover also made me want to read it.

I enjoy books and movies that take multiple stories and have them intertwine and overlap in some way. This is how The Nest is written. So even if one character's story didn't thrill you, you would soon be on to reading about the next character. I found the book lighthearted and engaging. I laughed out loud a few times and other times I couldn't stop listening because I wanted to know what was going to happen. I definitely recommend this book if you're looking for something entertaining and not too serious.

The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer

"The Emmy Award-winning comedian, actress, writer, and star of Inside Amy Schumer and the acclaimed film Trainwreck has taken the entertainment world by storm with her winning blend of smart, satirical humor. Now, Amy Schumer has written a refreshingly candid and uproariously funny collection of (extremely) personal and observational essays. "

I have to admit I didn't know much of Amy Schumer's comedy. I saw the odd short stand up segment with her but that's it. Then in a matter of a couple of weeks I watched Trainwreck and read her book. I loved both. I find her humour and honesty hilarious and refreshing. I enjoyed her book thoroughly. Her insights and stories made for an interesting read.

With the weather getting cooler I'm ready to jump back into my Young Adult fantasy and sci-fi novels. They fit well with grey days and cooler weather in my opinion.

What are you reading now?
