Star Wars Day: Leia Buns

Happy Star Wars Day! To celebrate I decided to make cinnamon buns - aka Leia Buns! I've never made homemade cinnamon buns before so I was a little nervous but the recipe I followed turned out perfect!

Leia Buns

Dough

2 cups flour
2 tablespoons sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
3 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup milk

Filling
4 tablespoons butter
1 cup brown sugar
3 teaspoons cinnamon

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Fahrenheit.
2. Mix together flour, sugar, and baking powder in a large bowl.
3. Mix in softened butter and mix until well combined. Then stir in milk to form a soft dough.
4. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
5. For the filling, combine softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon to form a crumbly mixture in a separate bowl.
6. Sprinkle 1/2 of the mixture over the bottom of a 9x9 pan.
7. Spread the remaining filling on the rolled out dough.
8. Roll up the rectangle of dough and with a sharp knife slice into 12 rolls.
9. Place in pan and bake 25 minutes.

If you want, make a glaze with icing sugar and milk and drizzle over finished cinnamon buns.

I will definitely make these again and I might even change them up a bit too. I'm excited that my first homemade batch of cinnamon buns were successful!

Happy Star Wars Day again! May the 4th be with you!
