Okashi Connection

Back in the Summer I heard about this amazing company, Okashi Connection. They are a subscription box company that sends out approximately 1 pound of candy and snacks from Japan to subscribers. I was thrilled to hear about this. So I started following them on all their social media and drooling over all the pictures they were posting. Long story short, they sent me a box to review which made me incredibly happy!

I'm a huge fan of Japanese candy and I buy it whenever I can, whether at Pacific Mall near Toronto or at Nations grocery store back in Hamilton. So I was thrilled to try some new things.

Contents of the box:

Koala's Chocolate Banana:
I've had Koala treats before but never this flavour. I was very excited for these. They had a strong artificial banana smell but I liked that. It reminded me of banana pudding or banana cream pie. The chocolate flavour wasn't very strong but the taste reminded me of a banana cream pie which I enjoyed. I would buy these again in a heartbeat.

Pai no Mi - Cotton Candy flavour:
These were intriguing since I'm a big fan of cotton candy. As soon as you opened the package, there was a strong cotton candy smell. The pastry itself was very soft and fresh which was surprising since it's a pre-packaged treat. They weren't overly sweet and the only cotton candy flavour was in the filling but they were still good.

Giant Caplico - Panda (Cookies and Cream):
This was no what I expected at all but I loved it! So it was basically a chocolate bar with an ice cream cone around it. The chocolate was incredibly similar to an Aero chocolate bar which is a good thing. The chocolate was soft and melted in your mouth and had bubbles in it just like Aero.

Country Ma'am - Strawberry and Vanilla (Hello Kitty 40th Anniversary):
These were probably my favourite item in the box and Adam loved them too. They were mini cookies and they were SO soft. We ate through the whole box in one sitting. I would stock up on these if given the chance!

Ototto Takoyaki Flavored Crackers:
I put these off for a while because I'm all about sweet treats. But once I tried a cracker, I was instantly surprised at how good they were! Two bags are inside the box so I left one for Adam, but I inhaled my bag of crackers. I can't even describe the flavour but they were excellent. And the cats apparently liked the smell because I had both of them trying to climb into my lap to stick their head in the bag. And look at the cute cracker shapes!

Baby Star Ramen Snack:
Like with the crackers, I put these off. But they were also delicious and perfect to bring to work! I would buy these little bags for my lunches. They reminded me of eating Mr. Noodles uncooked which I did a lot when I was younger. These ramen snacks were full of flavour.

I plan on signing up for a subscription box from Okashi Connection every once in a while. I think it'd make a great gift as well for the friend that likes trying new things. You get a ton of snacks to try and it's like a little adventure.

Definitely check out Okashi Connection and check out all their fun photos on their Instagram feed.

  2. We almost needed another suitcase for all the treats we brought back from Japan last year, so this is a service I'd definitely like to check out.

  4. This sounded so amazing but most of these items I can get locally but this is perfect for those that can't! Now if they include flavored Kit Kats, I will be all over a sub!

    1. Apparently they do have flavoured Kit Kats sometimes. Each month is different treats. And the one month included green tea Kit Kats.
