The Month of Treats

This month has been filled with baking for me! A couple of days after Thanksgiving, I had a cupcake and cookie order to fill - 50 cupcakes and 50 cookies for a Breast Cancer event. I was a little nervous decorating the sugar cookies free-hand with royal icing but I think they turned out pretty good. I was confident I could make the cupcakes look great though. I love decorating cupcakes and surprisingly I didn't hurt my shoulder decorating 50 of them. I was so happy with how they turned out and both the cupcakes and cookies were very yummy!

I have also been experimenting with some pumpkin treats this month. Last week I made pumpkin oatmeal cookies which I will post the recipe for in a week or so. But my new favourite pumpkin treat is canned pumpkin and vanilla yogurt. It's so good and so easy to whip up. I've been mixing a tablespoon of pumpkin with a single-serving container of vanilla yogurt and then adding a pinch of pumpkin pie spice. It is the perfect dessert!

I've made a couple of Halloween-themed cookies this month so far. I posted one of them on Media Junk Food, Zombie Bites. They were just thumbprint cookies that I made look like oozing sores. You can find the recipe here.

I have a few more things that I'll be baking before the month is up. I have cupcakes to make for a birthday, a treat to make for a Halloween party, and then Halloween cupcakes. I absolutely love this time of year for baking!
