Fan Expo Canada

This past weekend was Fan Expo Canada. It flew by and I cannot believe that it's over for the year. It was an awesome weekend!

Day 1
The first day was a little rough since I was alone for most of the day. The registration this year was a bit frustrating and then dragging all my stuff in was a pain. But once I was set up I felt much better. I was confined to my table for the majority of the day. My Dad came to visit for a few hours so I was able to check out an aisle or two but I didn't leave him too long to watch my table. The traffic in the convention was incredible. I've never seen a first day that busy for Fan Expo and there were a lot of costumes.

Day 2
Adam came with me Friday-Sunday this weekend. We were able to take turns walking around the convention and Adam kept taking off to try to win things at the EB Games booth. It was super busy and I did really well in sales. I loved meeting some Twitter friends in person and Adam picked me out my first X-Men Marvel Tokidoki Frenzies figure! The only downfall of the day?!?! The Bruce Springsteen concert going on that night. Getting out of the convention parking lot and trying to get through downtown Toronto to go visit family that night was horrendous.

Day 3
Saturday was by far the craziest day of the weekend! The aisles were jam packed. Getting to the washroom, or trying to go to a specific booth could take a good while because you had to fight the crowds. Two cast members of Criminal Minds were at the convention Saturday and they created such a giant crowd at the CTV booth. I went up to the celebrity area a few times throughout the day to check out the celebrities. Both The Walking Dead cast members, Norman Reedus and Jon Bernthal, were so down to earth and sweet with their fans. They wouldn't stay behind their table. They kept coming around to take photos with the fans in line. Costumes were in full force Saturday. I took a lot of photos of the cosplay all weekend. I posted all the photos on my facebook page.

Day 4
The weekend went by really quickly. Sunday, since it was a couple of hours shorter, flew by. Mary came with us Saturday and Sunday and she went to see the Arrow panel and watch the pilot episode Sunday morning. Hearing about the pilot from her has made me excited to watch the show. I have no idea if it'll last or how they'll continue the story every episode but I'm definitely going to give the show a try. We also lucked out when we went to check out the celebrities that day. By chance they had the banners that were blocking the area that Stan Lee was signing in open. He actually stood up quickly for a quick photo-op and then they closed up the 'wall' again. It was pretty cool.

I'm such a dork when I do my Hulk-face. But I just had to do it...

Fan Expo toys! #popvinyl #marvel #tokidoki
My toys I picked up over the weekend. I bought another Marvel Frenzies and I got Magneto! I was lucky to get 2 X-Men figures. We found the Sanrio Pop! Vinyl figures at Fan Expo. By Sunday they were sold out of a few of the characters. Besides Hello Kitty, Chococat was the other character I really wanted from the set so I'm happy that I was able to take him home.

It was a great weekend! I made my podcast debut on An Elegant Weapon on Sunday. Once it gets put up, I'll post a link for it on my facebook page. I pre-registered for next year's Fan Expo over the weekend. I have a few ideas already for next year's convention.

This upcoming Saturday is our big move back to Hamilton so next week I'll be opening my Etsy shop back up and posting some new items that were leftover from Fan Expo.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

  1. Sounds like a very fun and busy weekend! Good luck with the move :)

That zombie make-up is amazing; guessing that guy was either a professional make-up artist, knows someone who is, or was actually a zombie... Scary stuff! :p xx

    1. Yeah, he was promoting a new horror movie there so I'm guessing he had his make-up done by a professional. There were quite a few really creepy zombies walking around.

  2. That looks cool! Looks like a really fun weekend. I seem to have fairly frequent zombie nightmares. I wouldn't be able to handle that guy, lol.
